A 42" built-in electric fireplace with triple-layer yellow and orange flames that rise over glowing split oak logs and a five-color ember bed, under a 13-color top light. The Napoleon Elevation Electric NEFB42H-MF recesses fully into a framed wall opening with 0" clearance to combustibles and ships with its one-piece finishing trim. Its heater gives about 5,000 BTU/hr on 120 V or 10,000 BTU/hr wired for 240 V, with a thermostat, ECO and Boost. Run it from the remote, the Napoleon Home app or your voice assistant — no vent and no gas line. from $3,269.
Choose the 42" if you want a larger realistic log fire built flush into a wall or media wall without a chimney or gas line, and you will have an electrician wiring the room anyway — wiring it for 240 V doubles the heat. It suits a bedroom or a manufactured home, and it is the one to pick for a 45-3/4" wide opening; the 36" fits 39-3/4".
It is not right if you want to plug it in yourself: it must be hard-wired to a dedicated 15 A circuit by a qualified electrician. It is also indoor-only, not for bathrooms, weighs 176.5 lb so it takes two people to set in place, and wants curtains and furniture kept 36" away.
The appliance measures 44-13/16" wide by 39-5/16" high, 46-3/8" by 40-3/8" across the finishing trim, with a 41-3/4" by 33-1/16" viewing area, and weighs 176.5 lb. Frame an opening 45-3/4" wide by 39-9/16" high and 16-1/4" deep. Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the bottom, sides and back, 0" to a mantel above and 0" to the ceiling, and the heater vents must stay uncovered. Power is 120 or 240 VAC, 60 Hz, up to 1,465 W or 2,930 W, hard-wired on a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit.
The Elevation Electric 36" is the same fireplace six inches narrower and four inches shorter: a 35-3/4" by 29-1/16" viewing area against this model's 41-3/4" by 33-1/16", a 39-3/4" by 35-9/16" opening against 45-3/4" by 39-9/16", the same 16-1/4" depth, heater, controls, logs and trim, and 146 lb against 176.5 lb. It sells from $2,679 against from $3,269 for the 42".
No. The Elevation Electric needs only power: a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit, hard-wired to the fireplace by a qualified electrician. Once it is wired and the breaker is on, it is ready to run.
No. This fireplace must be hard-wired directly to the household wiring by a qualified electrician, using a 2-conductor cable for 120 V or a 3-conductor cable for 240 V, brought to the right side of the opening. The strain relief and junction box cover plate come in the box.
Either works on a dedicated 15 A circuit. On 120 V the heater gives about 5,000 BTU/hr; wired for 240 V it gives about 10,000 BTU/hr. The flames, lights and controls are the same either way.
45-3/4" wide by 39-9/16" high and 16-1/4" deep. Clearance to combustibles is 0" all round, including to a mantel directly above. Bring the power to the right side of the opening and wire it before you set the fireplace in, and keep insulation off the appliance - Napoleon recommends finishing the inside of the enclosure, with drywall for example.
Yes. The flames, ember bed and top light run with the heater off, and the heater can be locked out from the controls or with a physical switch behind the trim. With heat on, the thermostat holds the room between 64°F and 82°F, ECO runs at half output and Boost runs full heat with a faster blower for 30 minutes.
Indoors only, fully recessed into a framed enclosure. It is approved for bedrooms and mobile homes and meets HUD standards for manufactured homes, but it is not suitable for a bathroom. Keep curtains, furniture and bedding 36" away.
