About This Product

Napoleon Woodland 18" Electric Log Set

An 18" wide electric log set that fills an existing fireplace opening at least 18" wide, 14" high and 14" deep, or sits in a mantel. The Napoleon Woodland NEFI18H has four hand-painted resin logs on a grate with charcoal embers, lit by LEDs with a moving flame effect, and a heater of up to 5,000 BTU/hr with a blower and thermostat — or run the flame with the heat off. It plugs into a dedicated 120 V outlet, with no vent and no gas line. from $629.

Choose the 18" if you have a small masonry fireplace you no longer burn wood in and want a fire in it again without a chimney sweep or a gas line, or want a fire in a compact mantel. It is approved for bedrooms and manufactured homes, and the remote runs the flame, heat and timer from across the room.

It is not right for you if you want a fireplace that hangs on the wall. The Woodland brings an existing fireplace or mantel back to life with four hand-painted logs, and needs no chimney or gas line.

Specifications

The log set measures 18" wide by 13-1/2" high by 13" deep and weighs 22.5 lb. It needs a fireplace opening at least 18" wide, 14" high and 14" deep, and sits 2" off the back wall for the flame effect. Keep furniture and curtains 36" from the front and leave the air intake and heat outlet clear. Power is 120 VAC, 60 Hz, 1,500 W on a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit, plugged in or hard-wired. It is certified to CSA 22.2 No. 46 and UL 1278.

How the 18" compares to the Woodland 24" and 27"

All three run the same heater, remote and flame controls at the same 1,500 W maximum draw; they differ in size, in the opening they fill and in the log set. The Woodland 24" is 24" wide with five logs over front and rear ember beds and needs an opening 24" wide and 15" high, from $729. The Woodland 27" is 27" wide with six logs and needs 27-1/2" by 16", from $839, against from $629 for the 18".

Answers to common questions

Will it fit my fireplace?

It needs an opening at least 18" wide, 14" high and 14" deep; the log set itself is 18" wide, 13-1/2" high and 13" deep, and sits 2" off the back wall for the best flame effect. For a larger opening the Woodland 24" needs 24" wide and 15" high, and the Woodland 27" needs 27-1/2" wide and 16" high.

Does it need a vent, a chimney or a gas line?

No. It is electric and needs only power: plug it into a grounded 120 V outlet on a dedicated 15 A circuit, or have an electrician hard-wire it. In an existing fireplace, clean out the ash first, then seal the chimney draft with a non-combustible material and cap the flue so rain and debris stay out. Extension cords and power strips are not allowed.

Can I keep my fireplace doors or screen?

Not doors that close it in — glass doors that shut or seal off the log set cannot be used, and if doors stay on the fireplace they must be left open so the heat can get out. A screen can stay as long as it lets air flow freely in front of the log set.

How much heat does it give, and can I run it without heat?

Up to 5,000 BTU/hr, on low or high (1,500 W maximum draw for the whole unit), with a blower that spreads it and a thermostat you can set from 61°F to 85°F. The flame and ember glow run with the heater off, the blower can run on its own, and the heater button can be locked out, so you can use it year-round.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Four-log set with grate and charcoal embers; Heater with heat-circulating blower and built-in thermostat; Remote control and front control panel; Cord and plug for a grounded 120 V outlet; 1-year parts warranty.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Electrical - a dedicated, grounded 120 V, 15 A outlet within reach of the cord, or a hard-wired 120 V, 15 A supply installed by a qualified electrician; no extension cords or power strips; Fireplace prep - in an existing fireplace, an opening at least 18" wide, 14" high and 14" deep, cleaned of ash, with the chimney draft sealed with non-combustible material and the flue capped.
  • Optional: Hard-wiring in place of the plug — it runs fully on the supplied cord.
Where can it be used?

Indoors only, in a room between 41°F and 95°F. It is approved for bedrooms and manufactured homes, but not for bathrooms. Keep furniture, bedding and curtains 36" from the front, set it level on a hard surface rather than carpet, and with the heater on, keep young children supervised — a safety gate is a good idea where there are toddlers.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
