Superior DRI2027 27" Direct Vent Gas Fireplace Insert
Turns an existing wood-burning fireplace into a sealed direct-vent gas heater. Choose the DRI2027 if you have a smaller fireplace to convert — the opening only needs to be 27" wide, 18" high and 15" deep — and you would rather pick the front yourself: the Medium and Large full front facades are a separate choice, not a fixed look.
It is not right if you do not have an existing masonry or factory-built wood-burning fireplace to put it in — an insert installs into a fireplace, not into a framed wall. Building new or finishing a wall, look at a direct-vent gas fireplace like the Superior DRT3000 series instead. And it is a supplemental heater by design — if you are sizing a primary heat source for a large space, look at a dedicated heater-rated unit rather than asking this one to carry the room.
Specifications
The existing fireplace needs a front opening at least 27" wide — held to a 3" depth into the firebox — 18" of height, 17" of rear width and 15" of depth. Combustible mantel and side-wall clearances are set by the clearance drawing — see Figure 4 on page 14 of the installation manual, and send us your mantel dimensions so we can read it with you. At hearth level, non-combustible floor protection at least 1/2" thick (k factor .84) runs 10" out in front of the appliance. It vents on two 3" flex liners up the existing chimney — 10 to 25 feet of vertical height — and the approved Simpson Dura Vent and Selkirk liner kits, adaptors and caps are listed in the manual. How the DRI2027 compares to the DRI2032
The two DRI2000 inserts share the Ecoflow ignition, the standard blower, the two-facade front choice and the 3" co-linear liner venting; they differ in size and output. This 27" model needs a 27" x 18" fireplace opening and runs 25,000 BTU/hr max on natural gas at from $2,869; the 32" DRI2032 needs 32" x 19-1/2" and runs 28,000 BTU/hr max at from $3,149. Measure the fireplace cavity first — the opening decides the size.

Will it fit my fireplace?
It fits an existing masonry or factory-built wood-burning fireplace with a front opening at least 27" wide, 18" high, 17" wide at the rear and 15" deep — and the 27" front width has to hold for the first 3" of depth into the firebox. The grate comes out and the damper is removed or secured open. Measure the cavity and send us the numbers; we will confirm fit before you order.

Will it work if the power goes out?
Yes — the appliance keeps running in a power outage. The Ecoflow electronic ignition is equipped with a battery backup system: four AA batteries power the appliance, without the blower, until mains power returns. The blower is the exception — it requires 120 VAC and will not run on the batteries, though the fireplace is not dependent on the blower to operate.
How does it vent?
Vertically, up the chimney you already have, on two 3" flexible liners — one for exhaust (listed to UL1777) and one for combustion air intake (UL 181 or UL1777) — ending in a listed direct-vent termination cap with the chimney sealed around it. The vertical run must be 10 to 25 feet, measured from the base of the unit, and at maximum height the standing (continuous) pilot mode should be used for correct operation. The manual's approved kits are Simpson Dura Vent and Selkirk; send us your chimney height and we will spec the liner kit with you.
Can it go in a bedroom or a manufactured home?
Yes — it is approved for sitting rooms and/or bedrooms, and it may be installed in an aftermarket, permanently located, manufactured home (USA only) or mobile home where not prohibited by local codes. It is certified to CSA/CGA 2.17-2017 and UL 307B for manufactured homes in both the USA and Canada.
How much heat does it actually put out?
Every configuration heats: 25,000 BTU/hr max and 14,000 min on natural gas, or 22,500 max and 13,300 min on propane, at 73% P4 efficiency either way. The standard 140-CFM variable-speed blower delivers the warmth into the room, with a speed knob on the left facade panel. It is designed as a supplemental heater, so keep an alternate primary heat source for the dwelling.
How does the warranty work if something goes wrong?
Superior warrants the insert — 20 years limited on the body, firebox and barrier — and The Torch Guys handles it for you: we register the appliance and, if you ever need to claim, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number. Keep your invoice and the model number; we hold the rest on file.
