24,500 BTU/hr input from a cast-iron stove 23-1/2" wide, 25-5/8" high and 17-1/2" deep. The Napoleon Bayfield GDS25 is a metallic black direct vent gas stove for natural gas or propane, with a PHAZER log set on a fibre burner, 5 mm ceramic glass and a safety barrier, a dimmable night light, electronic pilot-on-demand ignition with battery backup and a 45° vent exit on 4" / 7" pipe, from $4,429, covered by Napoleon's President's Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Choose the Bayfield if you want a traditional cast-iron stove on legs with a lit firebox: a night light glows above the PHAZER logs, and it is approved for bedrooms, bathrooms, closets and recessed installations as well as, on natural gas, permanently located manufactured homes. Its 45° vent exit lets the pipe go out through a wall, up through the roof, or up a masonry chimney on a co-linear liner.
It is not right for you if you want a modern, minimalist stove. The Bayfield is traditional cast iron on legs, with a night light that glows above the PHAZER logs.
The Bayfield is 23-1/2" wide, 25-5/8" high and 17-1/2" deep. Keep 4" to a combustible side wall, 2" to the back wall (5" if you add the blower), 2" in a 45° corner and 48" from the top of the stove to the ceiling; when it is rear vented, a mantel can go at least 8" above it (see section 3.9 on page 24 of the installation manual for the rest of the mantel drawing). Furniture stays 48" from the front. On wood flooring it needs nothing underneath; on carpet, vinyl tile or another combustible floor it sits on a metal or wood panel the full width and depth of the stove. The vent pipe is 4" exhaust inside 7" intake, up to 20 ft horizontally or 40 ft vertically, and keeps 1" at the sides and bottom and 2" on top of horizontal runs, 1" all round on vertical runs.
The Arlington GDS20 is the smaller Napoleon direct vent stove, in the same metallic black with the same 45° 4" / 7" venting — up to 20,000 BTU against the Bayfield's 24,500, and it can be ordered with millivolt ignition. The Bayfield starts from $4,429; the Arlington starts from $3,039. Pick the Bayfield for the bigger fire, the night light and the Proflame 2 control system.
The vent pipe and termination are sold separately. It vents through 4" exhaust / 7" intake direct vent pipe from a 45° vent exit — out through a wall, up through the roof, or up a masonry chimney on a 3" co-linear liner — up to 20 ft horizontally or 40 ft vertically. Napoleon's GD-175 stove wall terminal kit includes its pipe, and Wolf Steel, Metal-Fab, BDM, Simpson DuraVent and Selkirk Direct Temp pipe is approved with the right starter adaptor. A vertical run through a ceiling also needs a firestop. We can put the vent package together for your run.

Treat it as a fire to look at, not a heater. It burns 24,500 BTU/hr and puts out up to 19,000 BTU/hr on natural gas, but Napoleon certifies it as a vented decorative gas appliance rather than a heat source. If you need a stove to heat a space, it is the wrong choice.
Yes. The stove runs on a power cord, and its Proflame 2 battery holder takes four AA batteries that keep the electronic ignition working when the power is out. If the batteries run low, a slider switch on the holder turns the burner on by hand. The pilot lights itself when you turn the stove on, so you never light it with a match.
Yes to both, with one limit. It is approved for bedrooms, bathrooms, bed-sitting rooms, closets and recessed installations; the mobile-home approval covers the natural gas model, for a permanently located manufactured (mobile) home fueled with natural gas, where local codes allow. In a mobile home it must be fastened in place, which the leg leveling and stove securing kit (GDSLL-KT) does. That approval covers the natural gas model only.
No. Napoleon's President's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers the original purchaser who buys through an authorized Napoleon dealer and has the stove installed by a licensed, qualified installer; there is nothing to register, so keep your proof of purchase with the model and serial number. It covers the combustion chamber, heat exchanger, burner, logs and embers, ceramic glass (thermal breakage) and porcelain parts for as long as you own the stove, electrical and wearing parts for one year, and labour for the first year. The Torch Guys will help you with any claim.
