About This Product

Napoleon Linear Patioflame 52" Gas Fire Pit

60,000 BTU/hr maximum input on propane or natural gas, from a 304 stainless steel linear burner set in a Hammertone pewter powder-coated cabinet 51-7/8" long, 17-7/8" wide and 11-7/8" high. The Napoleon Linear Gas Patioflame GPFL48MHP is a finished, freestanding outdoor fire pit. It ships ready for a propane cylinder with its regulator and hose, includes the natural gas orifice for conversion, lights with a push-button electronic igniter, shuts its own gas off through a thermocouple safety valve if the flame goes out, and comes with topaz glass embers and a brushed stainless cover plate. It is $1,999, with 3 years of warranty coverage on the stainless housing and burner.

Choose the GPFL48MHP if you want a long, low ribbon of fire on a patio or deck without building a base for it — it arrives as a finished fire pit, ready to connect to a propane cylinder or, once converted, a natural gas line.

It is not right for you if you want to build your own fire pit base. The GPFL48MHP arrives as a finished fire pit with a long ribbon of fire, ready to connect to propane or, once converted, natural gas.

Specifications

Overall, the fire pit measures 51-7/8" long, 17-7/8" wide and 11-7/8" high; the burner unit inside is 47-1/2" by 13-1/2". Keep at least 24" to side walls all around and 72" from the top of the unit to a ceiling; the limit on an overhang above it is drawn on page 5 of the installation manual. Inlet pressure is 7" w.c. on natural gas and 11" w.c. on propane.

How the GPFL48MHP compares to the Linear Patioflame GPFL48 burner kit

The Linear Patioflame GPFL48 is the same 60,000 BTU/hr burner unit without the cabinet — 47-1/2" long and 5-1/2" high — for setting on a surface or building into a base of your own. The GPFL48MHP is $1,999; the GPFL48 is $1,659. Pick the GPFL48MHP for a finished fire pit, and the GPFL48 if you are building your own surround.

Answers to common questions

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Stainless steel linear burner unit with safety valve, thermocouple, igniter, control panel and knob; Hammertone pewter powder-coated cabinet with a hinged control door; Brushed stainless steel cover plate with handle; Propane regulator and hose, cylinder retaining bracket, and the natural gas orifice for conversion; Topaz glass embers; Napoleon President's 3 Year Limited Warranty.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Gas Supply - a 20 lb or 30 lb propane cylinder with a QCC1 valve, or a natural gas line with its own shut-off valve run by a licensed gas fitter, who also fits the included natural gas orifice; nothing else is needed to run the fire pit, and the windscreen chosen above is optional.
  • Optional: The Linear Windscreen, a five-inch-high tempered glass screen that keeps the flame burning in wind, and glass ember kits in amber, clear, black, blue or red — the fire pit runs fully without either.
Where can I put the GPFL48MHP?

Outdoors only, on firm, level ground on a patio, deck or in the yard, in a well-ventilated spot — never inside a building, garage, screened-in porch or gazebo. Keep 24" to side walls all around and 72" to a ceiling, and avoid spots where it can get excessively wet. The gas line can come in through the side of the cabinet or from underneath.

Do I need the windscreen?

No — the fire pit runs fully without it, but the burner shuts itself down in winds above 10 mph. The Linear Windscreen is a 1 cm thick tempered glass screen that stands five inches high around the burner to keep the flame burning in wind, so it is worth adding for an exposed patio or deck.

Can the GPFL48MHP run on natural gas?

Yes. It ships set up for propane, and the natural gas orifice comes in the box. A licensed gas fitter swaps the orifice, leak tests the connections and runs the gas line, which needs a readily accessible manual shut-off valve ahead of the fire pit and has to be sized for 60,000 BTU/hr over the length of the run. Natural gas inlet pressure is 7" w.c.

Where does the propane tank go?

Beside the fire pit, on a level surface, held by the cylinder retaining bracket that comes with it. If you build a compartment for the cylinder, it needs vent openings near the top and at floor level, a partition between the cylinder and the burner, a door that does not lock, and at least 2" between its floor and the ground; opening sizes are on pages 10 and 11 of the installation manual.

How do I protect it from the weather?

Turn it off when it rains, and put the stainless cover plate on whenever it is not in use, to keep rain and debris off the burner and glass embers. Take the cover off before lighting it.

Does buying online affect my Napoleon warranty?

No. Napoleon's President's 3 Year Limited Warranty covers the original purchaser who buys through an authorized Napoleon dealer and has the fire pit installed by a licensed, authorized technician or contractor, for normal home use. It covers the stainless steel housing and burner assembly for 3 years and all other parts for 2 years. Keep your bill of sale with the model and serial numbers for any claim, and The Torch Guys will help you with it.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
