About This Product

Napoleon Elevation X Electric 36" Built-In Electric Fireplace

A 36" built-in electric fireplace with an LCD panel at the back of the firebox that plays high-definition gas-style or wood-style flames behind layered projection glass, over glowing split oak logs and a five-color ember bed. A built-in speaker adds the crackle of a real fire. The Napoleon Elevation X Electric NEFB36LCD-MF recesses fully into a framed wall opening with 0" clearance to combustibles, and its heater gives about 5,000 BTU/hr on 120 V or 10,000 BTU/hr wired for 240 V, with a thermostat, ECO and Boost. Run it from the remote, the Napoleon Home app or your voice assistant — no vent and no gas line. from $3,889.

Choose the 36" if you want the most lifelike electric flame Napoleon builds into a wall — a video fire with real depth and sound — without a chimney or gas line. It suits a bedroom or a manufactured home, it can plug into an outlet or be hard-wired for 240 V and double the heat, and it is the one to pick for a 39-3/4" wide opening; the 42" needs 45-3/4".

It is not right for you if you prefer the original LED electric fireplace flame technology. The Elevation X uses Napoleon's most lifelike video flame, with real depth and the sound of a crackling fire.

Specifications

The appliance measures 39" wide by 35-3/16" high and 16-5/8" deep, 40-3/8" by 36-3/8" across the finishing trim, with a 35-3/4" by 29-1/16" viewing area, and weighs about 170 lb. Frame an opening 39-3/4" wide by 35-9/16" high and 16-7/8" deep. Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the bottom, sides and back, 0" to a mantel above and 0" to the ceiling, and the heater vents must stay uncovered. Power is 120 or 240 VAC, 60 Hz, up to 1,465 W or 2,930 W, on a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit.

How the 36" compares to the Elevation X Electric 42"

The Elevation X Electric 42" is the same fireplace about six inches wider and four inches taller: a 41-3/4" by 33-1/16" viewing area against this model's 35-3/4" by 29-1/16", a 43" LCD panel against 32", and a 45-3/4" by 39-9/16" opening against 39-3/4" by 35-9/16", at the same 16-7/8" depth, with the same heater, controls and logs. It sells from $4,649 against from $3,889 for the 36".

Answers to common questions

Does it need a vent, a chimney or a gas line?

No. The Elevation X Electric needs only power on a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit. Once it is connected and the breaker is on, it is ready to run.

Can I plug it in, or does it have to be hard-wired?

Either. It comes with a power cord for a grounded wall outlet — plug it straight into the outlet, never into an extension cord. To get the full 10,000 BTU/hr of heat it is hard-wired for 240 V by a qualified electrician, using a 3-conductor cable brought to the right side of the opening; a 2-conductor cable hard-wires it for 120 V. The strain reliefs and junction box cover plate come in the box.

How does the LCD flame work?

A screen at the back of the firebox plays high-definition video of a real fire, and two layers of projection glass in front of it give the flames depth from front to back. Pick a gas-style fire, a wood-style fire, or just the glowing logs, and set the brightness and how many flame layers show. A built-in speaker plays matching crackling sounds, with the volume set in the Napoleon Home app.

What size opening do I frame for the 36"?

39-3/4" wide by 35-9/16" high and 16-7/8" deep. Clearance to combustibles is 0" all round, including to a mantel directly above. Bring the power to the right side of the opening and connect it before you set the fireplace in, and keep insulation off the appliance - Napoleon recommends finishing the inside of the enclosure, with drywall for example.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Premium glowing split oak logs on a grate over the ember bed; LCD flame panel with gas-style and wood-style flames, and a built-in speaker; Heater with built-in thermostat, ECO and Boost modes; Remote control with 7-day schedule; Wi-Fi for the Napoleon Home app; Adjustable one-piece finishing trim and frameless finishing flange; Mounting screws, strain reliefs, plastic caps and junction box cover plate; 5-year parts warranty, 1-year labour.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Electrical - a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit at the right side of the opening: a wall outlet for 120 V, or hard-wired by a qualified electrician for 240 V and full heat; Framed opening - 39-3/4" wide by 35-9/16" high by 16-7/8" deep; keep insulation and vapour barrier off the appliance (finishing the inside, e.g. with drywall, is recommended).
  • Optional: Wall-mount controller with a black or white cover, for power, flame, heat mode and thermostat from the wall.
Can I run the flames without heat?

Yes. The flames, ember bed and top light run with the heater off, and the heater can be locked out from the controls or with a physical switch behind the touch panel. With heat on, the thermostat holds the room between 64°F and 82°F, ECO runs at half output and Boost runs the heater on high with the blower at full speed. The heater also turns itself off after 24 hours with no input.

Where can it be installed?

Indoors only, fully recessed into a framed enclosure. It is approved for bedrooms and mobile homes and meets HUD standards for manufactured homes, but it is not suitable for a bathroom. Keep curtains, furniture and bedding 36" away.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
