About This Product

Napoleon Entice 50" Wall Mount Linear Electric Fireplace

A 49-11/16" wide, 16-15/16" high electric fireplace only 5-7/16" deep that hangs on the wall, recesses partway, or builds in flush. The Napoleon Entice NEFL50CFH-1 runs full, tall flames in 10 colours over an ember bed of acrylic crystals, reflects them in a flame panel for depth, and heats at up to 5,000 BTU/hr from a standard 120 V outlet with no venting. The remote is included. from $1,229.

Choose the 50" if you want a slim electric fireplace for a 49-11/16" wall space that plugs in today and can be built into the wall later: it hangs on its bracket from a 120 V outlet, or hard-wires into a 48-7/8" x 16" opening with 0" clearance at the sides and back. It suits a living room, bedroom or kitchen wall where a gas fireplace and its venting are not an option.

It is not right if you need it to heat a room on its own: the heater tops out at 1,465 W, about 5,000 BTU/hr, which supplements a room rather than replacing the furnace. It is indoor-only and not for bathrooms, it needs its own dedicated 15 A circuit with no extension cord, and any recessed install has to be hard-wired by an electrician.

Specifications

The fireplace measures 49-11/16" wide, 16-15/16" high and 5-7/16" deep, with a 45-13/16" x 11-15/16" glass, and weighs 52.2 lb (65.5 lb packed). Recessed, it needs a 48-7/8" wide by 16" high opening in a non-load-bearing wall, at least 4" deep for a partial recess or 6" deep, including the finish, for a full recess. Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the bottom, sides and back, with 4" from the top of the trim to a ceiling or mantel; keep curtains, furniture and bedding 36" from the front. Power is 120 VAC, 60 Hz, 1,465 W, on a dedicated 15 A grounded circuit.

How the 50" compares to the other Entice sizes

The Entice comes in 36", 42", 50", 60", 72" widths, all the same 16-15/16" high, 5-7/16" deep fireplace with the same 1,465 W heater, controls and installation options; only the width, glass and opening change. The 50" is from $1,229; the 36" from $759, the 42" from $959, the 60" from $1,539, the 72" from $1,749.

Answers to common questions

Does it need a vent, a chimney or a gas line?

No. The Entice is electric and needs no venting, only power. Wall-mounted, it plugs into a grounded 120 V outlet on a dedicated 15 A circuit; recessed partway or fully, a qualified electrician removes the cord and hard-wires it to a 120 V, 15 A circuit. Extension cords and power strips are not allowed.

Can I recess it into the wall?

Yes. It hangs on the wall on its bracket, or recesses into a non-load-bearing 48-7/8" wide x 16" high opening framed at least 4" deep for a partial recess or 6" deep, including the finish, for a full recess. It needs 0" clearance at the bottom, sides and back, and 4" from the top of the trim to a ceiling or mantel. Recessed installs are hard-wired by an electrician.

How much heat does it put out, and can I run it without heat?

The heater makes up to about 5,000 BTU/hr (1,465 W) on a standard 120 V outlet, with low and high settings and a built-in thermostat that holds 64°F to 82°F. The flames and ember bed run with the heater off, so you can use it year-round, and the heater can be locked out from the remote.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Acrylic crystal media - small and medium crystals with an ember-bed strip; Remote control with a sleep timer; Side and top trims and side cover panels for a wall-mounted or partially recessed install; Wall mount bracket, bottom bracket, framing brackets and a hardware kit with cord covers; 2-year parts warranty.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Electrical - a dedicated, grounded 120 V, 15 A circuit: an outlet within reach of the cord when wall-mounted, or a hard-wired connection by a qualified electrician when recessed; no extension cords; Framing - a non-load-bearing 48-7/8" wide x 16" high opening, at least 4" deep for a partial recess or 6" deep including finish for a full recess (recessed installs only); Finishing Material - drywall or other wall finish around and inside the opening, keeping the heater vents uncovered (recessed installs only).
  • Optional: A birch or driftwood log set, or glass embers in one of six colours - the fireplace runs on the crystals it ships with.
Can I change the flame and ember colours?

Yes. The flames and the ember bed each run in 10 colours or a colour cycle, and the remote also offers 11 matched flame-and-ember presets. Flame brightness has four levels and flame speed five, and the ember bed can glow at four brightness levels or fade in and out.

Where can it be installed?

Indoors only. It is approved for bedrooms, bed-sitting rooms and mobile homes, but not for bathrooms. Keep curtains, furniture and bedding 36" from the front, keep it out of high-traffic areas, and never block the heater vents.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
