Napoleon Timberwolf 22" Stainless Steel Smokeless Fire Pit
A 22-inch wood-burning fire pit, 17-1/2" high, built to burn with less smoke: the two rows of vent holes in its dual-layer burn zone feed air drawn up from the lower vents into the fire, so it burns hotter and cleaner. The Napoleon Timberwolf NWFPLTI-SS is solid 304 stainless steel, burns firewood or wood pellets, and ships with its base ring, top ring, spark screen, removable ash pan, cover, poker and a leather carry handle. $709.
Choose it if you want a real wood fire on a patio or at a campsite without a cloud of smoke following you around the circle, light enough to move or take camping once it has cooled, and with a grid that turns it into a small charcoal or wood-ember grill.
It is not right for a wood or composite deck, dry grass, or a spot under a roof, an awning or low-hanging branches: it sits on non-combustible ground at least 15 ft from walls and buildings with nothing overhead. It is a wood fire, not a switch-on gas flame, and it still smokes for the first few minutes and whenever the wood is wet.
Specifications
The fire pit is 22" in diameter and 17-1/2" high and stands on its raised stainless base ring, which it is always used with. Burn dry, seasoned firewood under 20% moisture in logs under 4" across and no more than 16" long, or pour in wood pellets up to the Max Fill Line etched inside. It belongs outdoors on secure, level, non-combustible ground, at least 15 ft from walls, structures and buildings and never under overhead cover; flames can rise 3 ft above the top.
NWFPLTI-SS vs. the 18" Timberwolf fire pits
The medium Timberwolf (NWFPMTI-SS) is the same stainless steel fire pit at 18" across and the same 17-1/2" height, for a smaller fire and a tighter circle, with its own 18" cooking grid — $509 against $709. The 18" also comes in matte black (NWFPMTI-PHM) at $549; the 22" is made in stainless steel only.

Answers to common questions
Is it really smokeless?
It burns with less smoke, not with none. The two rows of vent holes in the dual-layer burn zone feed air into the fire so it burns hotter and cleaner. Expect some smoke for the first few minutes after lighting, and a one-time odor the very first time as the lubricants used in manufacturing burn off. Smoke comes back with wet wood, blocked vents, strong wind, or wood piled above the top ring.
Where can I use it, and can it go on my deck?
Outdoors only, on secure, level ground that will not burn — not on a wood or composite deck, dry grass, leaves or mulch. Keep it at least 15 ft from walls, structures and buildings, and never under a roof, carport, awning, overhang or low branches, because flames can rise 3 ft above the top. Keep outdoor furniture, umbrellas and blankets a sensible distance away.
What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
-
Included in the box: 22" stainless steel fire pit with dual-layer burn zone, top ring and raised base ring; Stainless steel spark screen; Removable stainless steel ash pan; Cover that protects the fire pit when it is not in use; Poker for tending the fire; Leather carry handle.
-
Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Fuel - dry, seasoned firewood (logs under 4" across and up to 16" long) or wood pellets, with tinder, kindling and a long match or barbecue lighter to start it; A place to burn it - secure, level, non-combustible ground outdoors, at least 15 ft from walls and buildings, with nothing overhead.
-
Optional: Cast iron cooking grid, table surround or side table — the fire pit runs on its own without any of them.
Can I burn pellets or charcoal instead of firewood?
Yes. Wood pellets, loose or in packs, are poured straight in and lit, never above the Max Fill Line etched inside; the flames fill the pit in about five minutes and a fresh pack or a log goes in after about 30 minutes. Charcoal is for cooking, on its own or under a few logs, with the optional cast iron grid.
Can I cook on it?
Yes, with the optional porcelain-coated cast iron grid made for the 22" Timberwolf (S83018). It sits on the spark screen in place of its lid. Grill over glowing embers from seasoned wood, food-grade BBQ pellets, or charcoal rather than over open flames.
How do I put the fire out and clean up?
Let it burn out on its own; water from a hose is for emergencies only, since water and wood ash together can mark the stainless finish. Once the pit is cool, lift out the ash pan and empty it into a metal container with a tight-fitting lid. The stainless will turn a golden or brown hue where it gets hot, which is normal; clean it with water or a non-abrasive stainless cleaner, along the grain.
How does the warranty work if I buy it online?
Napoleon's President's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers the top ring, spark screen, ash catcher, base and all other parts for 30 years, and the cover for 1 year, and Napoleon issues a replacement part for a part that fails in that period; shipping and labor are not covered. It covers the original purchaser of a fire pit bought through an authorized Napoleon dealer. The Torch Guys is an authorized Napoleon dealer, so the full factory warranty applies, and if you ever need a part we file the claim with Napoleon for you.
