The SimpliFire Scion 55" (SF-SCN55) is a built-in linear electric fireplace with a 53-3/8" W x 16-3/8" H view: 9 flame colors over a multi-piece log set, black glass embers, and clear crystal media, with 13 ember-bed colors and standard Wi-Fi and voice control. It runs entirely on electricity — no venting, gas line, or chimney — and adds 5,000 BTU/hr of supplemental heat on a 120V circuit, or 10,000 BTU/hr wired for 240V. from $2,579.
Choose it if you want a clean, frameless-capable linear firebox that installs before the wall is finished and runs entirely on electricity — no venting, no gas line, no chimney.
It is not right as a primary heat source: at 5,000-10,000 BTU/hr the heater is a supplemental assist, and SimpliFire does not rate it for whole-room heating. It also must be hardwired — there is no plug-in option — so plan a circuit at the opening.
The SF-SCN55 frames into a 24-1/4" H x 57" W x 7-5/8" D rough opening with zero clearance to combustibles at the sides, floor, top, and back and 36 in. at the front. It hardwires for 120V (15 A) or 240V (20 A) on a 60 Hz circuit; a heater input-voltage switch must be set to match.
The Scion comes in two sizes on the same firebox platform and controls: the 55" shown here and the 43" (from $2,259). Pick the width that fills your wall — the feature set, heat output, and installation are identical.
It is hardwire only. A qualified electrician brings a 120V (15 A) or 240V (20 A), 60 Hz circuit to the opening, and a switch inside the appliance is set to match the voltage. Wiring for 240V doubles the heat output to 10,000 BTU/hr.
5,000 BTU/hr on a 120V circuit and 10,000 BTU/hr on 240V — supplemental warmth for the room it is in. SimpliFire does not rate the Scion as a primary heat source, and the flame runs independently of the heater so you can enjoy it year-round.
Yes, in a genuinely protected outdoor room. UL approves the Scion outdoors when it is sheltered from direct water: the overhang must cover the front and sides, it must run on a GFCI circuit, and the chase must drain. It is not for fully exposed locations.
