About This Product

The SF-SCN55 from SimpliFire

The SimpliFire Scion 55" (SF-SCN55) is a built-in linear electric fireplace with a 53-3/8" W x 16-3/8" H view: 9 flame colors over a multi-piece log set, black glass embers, and clear crystal media, with 13 ember-bed colors and standard Wi-Fi and voice control. It runs entirely on electricity — no venting, gas line, or chimney — and adds 5,000 BTU/hr of supplemental heat on a 120V circuit, or 10,000 BTU/hr wired for 240V. from $2,579.

Choose it if you want a clean, frameless-capable linear firebox that installs before the wall is finished and runs entirely on electricity — no venting, no gas line, no chimney.

It is not right as a primary heat source: at 5,000-10,000 BTU/hr the heater is a supplemental assist, and SimpliFire does not rate it for whole-room heating. It also must be hardwired — there is no plug-in option — so plan a circuit at the opening.

Specifications

The SF-SCN55 frames into a 24-1/4" H x 57" W x 7-5/8" D rough opening with zero clearance to combustibles at the sides, floor, top, and back and 36 in. at the front. It hardwires for 120V (15 A) or 240V (20 A) on a 60 Hz circuit; a heater input-voltage switch must be set to match.

How the SF-SCN55 compares

The Scion comes in two sizes on the same firebox platform and controls: the 55" shown here and the 43" (from $2,259). Pick the width that fills your wall — the feature set, heat output, and installation are identical.

Features

  • A 53-3/8" W x 16-3/8" H viewing area over a multi-piece log set with black glass embers and clear crystal media, all included
  • Installs before the wall is finished with an included front trim you can use, or leave off for a frameless, flush look in stone or tile
  • 9 flame colors, 13 ember-bed colors with a rotating mode, warm/cool downlight, and two sound effects
  • Standard Wi-Fi through the Smart Life app with Alexa and Google Home voice control, plus a 16 ft. RF remote
  • Wire for 120V for a 5,000 BTU/hr assist or 240V for 10,000 BTU/hr, with a switch to run flame-only with the heat off
  • UL-approved for protected outdoor rooms when sheltered from direct water on a GFCI circuit

Answers to common questions

Does the Scion plug in, or does it need to be hardwired?

It is hardwire only. A qualified electrician brings a 120V (15 A) or 240V (20 A), 60 Hz circuit to the opening, and a switch inside the appliance is set to match the voltage. Wiring for 240V doubles the heat output to 10,000 BTU/hr.

How much heat does it put out?

5,000 BTU/hr on a 120V circuit and 10,000 BTU/hr on 240V — supplemental warmth for the room it is in. SimpliFire does not rate the Scion as a primary heat source, and the flame runs independently of the heater so you can enjoy it year-round.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: The SF-SCN55 Scion firebox with push-button controls, RF remote (2 AAA), multi-piece log set, black glass embers, and small and large clear crystal media.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: A hardwired 120V (15 A) or 240V (20 A) circuit brought to the opening by a qualified electrician — the Scion has no plug; Wall framing and finishing materials for the built-in opening.
  • Optional: ShadowGlo birch or timber log sets and decorative spheres add to the ember bed — the Scion is complete without them.
Can I put it in a covered patio or three-season room?

Yes, in a genuinely protected outdoor room. UL approves the Scion outdoors when it is sheltered from direct water: the overhang must cover the front and sides, it must run on a GFCI circuit, and the chase must drain. It is not for fully exposed locations.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
