About This Product

The DRT3035DMN-E from Superior

A 35" traditional direct-vent gas fireplace with a 29-1/4" by 19-1/2" view of the fire. The Superior DRT3035 is sealed combustion — it takes its air from outside and vents straight back out, top or rear, so it can go on an outside wall without a chimney. Natural gas runs 20,000 BTU/hr at 63.3% P4 efficiency. Choose millivolt ignition, which lights with a piezo igniter and needs no power, or electronic ignition with battery backup. from $2,159.

Choose the DRT3035 if you want a traditional gas fireplace in a 35" opening and you would rather pick the front yourself — the facade is a separate choice, not a fixed look.

It is not right if there is no route to an outside wall or roof. This is a sealed direct-vent firebox: it draws combustion air from outside and has to vent back out, top or rear. For an interior room with no venting path, a vent-free or an electric model is the one to look at instead.

Specifications

Frame an opening 35-7/8" wide and 18-1/2" deep, allowing 38-3/4" of height for a top-vent run or 23-3/8" for a rear-vent one. Keep a combustible mantel 3-1/2" clear and side walls 6" clear. It vents on 4.5"/7.5" Secure Vent rigid or Secure Flex components; the SV4.5HT-2 horizontal termination fits every model in the series and the small square SV4.5HTSS fits this one. Listed by PFS to ANSI Z21.88, report F13-094.

How the DRT3035 compares to the other DRT3000 sizes

Answers to common questions

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: The firebox with its log set and a bag of glowing embers; The safety barrier for the viewing glass, which must be fitted; Vent restrictors, header shield, heat shield, non-combustible board and 15 feet of two-conductor wire.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: A front — the fireplace ships without one, and the Vista Frame, Reflection and Craftsman facades are the options; Secure Vent or Secure Flex pipe and a termination sized for your run; A gas line run by a qualified installer, and an electrical supply if you choose electronic ignition or add a blower.
  • Optional: A blower, a remote or wall control, and a ceramic or porcelain liner kit.
Will it work if the power goes out?

Yes — both the millivolt and the electronic ignition models can run in a power outage. The millivolt model is a standing pilot system with a piezo igniter and needs no electricity at all. The electronic model does use external power, but four AA batteries back it up and keep the fireplace operating through an outage. The blower is the exception: on either model it needs mains power and will not run without it.

How do I vent it?

Top or rear, on Superior's 4.5"/7.5" Secure Vent rigid pipe or Secure Flex. Allow 38-3/4" of framing height for a top-vent run and 23-3/8" for a rear-vent one. The SV4.5HT-2 horizontal termination suits every model in the series, and the smaller square SV4.5HTSS is approved for the 35" and 40". Send us your wall build-up and we will size the run with you.

How close can a mantel sit above it?

A combustible mantel must stay at least 3-1/2" clear, and the allowance grows with mantel depth — the manual charts it from 6" to 16" of depth. Combustible side walls need 6". Give us your mantel depth and we will read the chart with you.

How does the warranty work if something goes wrong?

Superior warrants the fireplace, and The Torch Guys handles it for you — we register the appliance and, if you ever need to claim, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number. Keep your invoice and the model number; we hold the rest on file.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
