Venting Configurations

Distinction models use a direct-vent sealed combustion system with 5″/8″ vent pipe (4″/7″ reducer available for D3615 and D4815). Venting can originate from the top or rear of the unit and terminate through the roof or an exterior wall.

Wall-mount runs must follow the model-specific venting graphs in the installation manual (different graphs for D36/D48/D72 vs D63). 4″/7″ reduction requires a separate reducer (not supplied with fireplace).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I convert from natural gas to propane?

Yes, with a propane conversion kit. Every Montigo gas model is made for natural gas; select propane as your fuel type on our website and the conversion kit is automatically added to your order.

What venting do I need?

These models use direct-vent sealed combustion piping. Both vertical (through-roof) and horizontal (through-wall) terminations are supported. Refer to the installation manual for exact pipe size, max run length, and clearance requirements per model.

What's the difference between single-sided and see-through Distinction models?

Single-sided models are viewed from one room and install against an interior or exterior wall. See-through (ST) models have glass on both sides and let you see fire from two adjacent rooms — often used in room dividers or partial walls. Both share the same BTU rating and feature set.

Is LED Uplighting really standard?

Yes — every Distinction model ships with LED accent uplighting standard, unlike most series where it's a Full Load upgrade. Independent on/off control with the Proflame 2 remote.
