Venting Configurations

Illume Inserts (FID-Series) use Co-Linear direct venting routed up through an existing masonry or factory-built chimney. Both intake and exhaust vents must be connected and operational. Vertical termination only — horizontal/wall termination is not supported on inserts.

Co-Linear venting uses two separate aluminum flex liners (intake + exhaust) routed down the existing chimney. Co-Linear-to-Co-Axial adaptor at the termination converts to standard direct-vent termination cap. Using existing flues as a partial vent mechanism is not allowed — both liners must run the full chimney length.

Can I convert from natural gas to propane?

Yes, with a propane conversion kit. Every Montigo gas model is made for natural gas; select propane as your fuel type on our website and the conversion kit is automatically added to your order.

Can Illume retrofit any existing fireplace?

Illume is designed for existing masonry-construction fireplace openings (typical brick or stone fireplaces). Minimum opening dimensions are required — refer to the installation manual for exact framing/clearance specs. Illume cannot retrofit zero-clearance prefab fireplaces; for those, a full firebox replacement is needed.

What's the DVCP variant?

The DVCP is the larger Illume insert designed for bigger masonry openings. Use the standard 30FID or 34FID for typical residential openings; DVCP for oversized fireplaces.
