A flush wood mantel that frames a 48" by 39-1/2" fireplace opening, 65-3/4" wide and 54" high overall, projecting 5" from the wall. The Fireside Finishings Malone has a traditional profile with a deep 9-inch shelf and substantial 7-1/2-inch legs. Primed mdf arrives sealed and ready for your paint colour. from $1,599.
Choose the Malone if you want presence — it is one of the heaviest-framed mantels in the range.
It is not right if your fireplace opening is larger than the dimensions above — a flush mantel frames the opening and cannot be cut down. It also does not set your clearances: the mantel instructions cover the mantel only, and how far it must sit from the opening is dictated by your fireplace manufacturer's instructions.
The opening measures 48" wide by 39-1/2" high. Overall the mantel is 65-3/4" wide and 54" high, with a 74-3/4" top, 7-1/2" legs and a 9" shelf, projecting 5" from the wall. It ships flat and assembles on site.
Every Malone shares the same profile, finish range and detailing; the sizes differ in the opening they frame. This one is from $1,599, against from $1,629. Measure your fireplace opening first — the mantel has to clear it, and that is what picks the size.
Measure the fireplace opening. This size frames an opening up to 48" wide by 39-1/2" high, and sits 65-3/4" wide by 54" high on the wall. If your opening is larger, move up a size — a flush mantel frames the opening and cannot be trimmed to fit.
That is set by your fireplace, not by the mantel. The mantel's own instructions are explicit that they cover the mantel only and that you follow the fireplace manufacturer's installation instructions so the required clearances are met. Send us your firebox model and we will look up the clearance to combustibles with you.
