About This Product

The FMWBNC-72 from Fireside Finishings

A 72" cast concrete mantel shelf, 6-3/8" deep and 7-1/4" tall, weighing 180 lbs. The Fireside Finishings Weathered Barnwood is Supercast non-combustible concrete with a woodgrain finish, rated for indoor or outdoor use, and suits gas, wood or electric fireplaces. from $1,569.

Choose the Weathered Barnwood if you want a solid, non-combustible shelf rather than wood — a woodgrain texture cast into concrete.

It is not right if your wall cannot carry 180 lbs — this is cast concrete, not wood, and the mounting has to suit the weight. It also does not set your clearances: the shelf instructions cover the shelf only, and how far it must sit above the opening is dictated by your fireplace manufacturer's instructions.

Specifications

The shelf measures 72" wide, 6-3/8" deep and 7-1/4" tall, and weighs 180 lbs. It is a single cast piece of Supercast non-combustible concrete with a woodgrain finish.

How the Weathered Barnwood 72" compares to the other Traditional concrete shelves

The Traditional range shares one cast profile across three colourways and two lengths; the colour and the length are the only differences. This one is from $1,569. Pick the length off your fireplace opening and the wall around it.

Features

  • Cast in Supercast non-combustible concrete, woodgrain finish
  • 72" wide, 6-3/8" deep and 7-1/4" tall, weighing 180 lbs
  • Weathered Barnwood colourway in the Traditional range
  • Rated for indoor or outdoor use
  • Non-combustible, so it suits gas, wood or electric fireplaces

Answers to common questions

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: The cast concrete shelf.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Mounting hardware suited to your wall construction and to the shelf weight.
  • Optional: Nothing — the shelf is a single cast piece with no add-ons.
Can I use it outdoors?

Yes. Supercast concrete is rated for indoor or outdoor use, which is the main practical advantage over the wood shelves in this range.

How far above my fireplace does it go?

That is set by your fireplace, not by the shelf. The instructions cover the shelf only and tell you to follow the fireplace manufacturer's installation instructions so the required clearances are met. Being non-combustible does not change your firebox's published clearances — send us the model number and we will look them up with you.

Does buying online affect my Fireside Finishings warranty?

No. The Torch Guys is an authorized Fireside Finishings dealer, and we handle warranty registration and any claim on your behalf — you do not chase the manufacturer yourself.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
