The Prodigy II is an interior designer's dream fireplace. Montigo's COOL-Pack glass system keeps the glass safe to the touch, so there's no safety screen to spoil the view. Add a frameless, zero-clearance design that lets wood and other combustible finishes run right up to the opening, and you have a clean, modern fireplace that becomes the focal point of any room. The Prodigy II 3' is a single-sided linear custom gas fireplace with a 36" wide flame view in six glass heights from 20" to 60", 43,500 BTU/hr on natural gas or 39,000 on propane, full-width LED uplighting and Proflame 2 remote and app control — from $7,209 before the power vent you choose above.
Choose the 3' if you are planning a wall around the fireplace and want the opening clean: the finish is fastened to the face of the fireplace and stops at the glass, with no trim around it. Pick the glass height for the wall — a 20" view keeps the unit 51" tall, a 60" view makes it 91" — and use the 36" width to size it to the room. It suits a new build or a full remodel where the gas line, a 120 V circuit and a 10" vent run to a power vent can all be planned in.
It is not right if you are buying it for heat — the Prodigy II is a purely decorative appliance, not a source of heat. It cannot run without a Montigo power vent, a 10" Type B exhaust and a 120 V supply, so it is not a drop-in for an existing fireplace opening. And it is built to order: the lead time is about 6 to 8 weeks, and it cannot be returned once the order is placed.
Specifications
The 3' is 38" wide overall and 23" deep, and its height follows the glass: 51" with 20" glass, 55" with 24", 61" with 30", 67" with 36", 79" with 48" and 91" with 60", plus 3-1/2" for the flue and intake collars. The framed opening is 38-1/4" wide and 23-1/4" deep, and 54-3/4" high for 20" glass up to 94-3/4" for 60" glass (58-3/4", 64-3/4", 70-3/4" and 82-3/4" between). Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the top, rear, sides and floor; leave 1/8" between the finished material and the glass edge, keep fasteners out of the 3" above and below the glass, and keep a flush finish within 4" of the fireplace so the glass can come out for cleaning. It needs a 1/2" gas line and a grounded 120 VAC, 15 A supply.

Every single-sided Prodigy II shares the COOL-Pack glass, the zero-clearance body, the six glass heights and a 23" overall depth; the length sets the width of the flame and the input. Answers to common questions
What venting and power vent does the 3' need?
Every Prodigy II runs on a Montigo power vent, chosen above. For the 3' that is the PVVH200 vertical/horizontal power vent, mounted on the roof or an outside wall, or the PVIN10 inline power vent, mounted inside the building behind an access panel. From the fireplace to the power vent the exhaust is 10" listed Type B vent with every joint and seam sealed; the combustion air comes in through 8" B-vent or aluminum flex (one 8" intake, with the second collar covered by the included blanking plate). Each run can be 3' to 110' with three 90-degree elbows, 15' shorter for every extra elbow. After an inline power vent the pipe must be sealed positive-pressure venting — Montigo VPIF pipe up to 30'. The power vent is powered through the 50' cable that comes with the fireplace; 75', 100', 150' and 200' cables are available. Termination clearances are listed on pages 45 and 46 of the installation manual.

Is the glass safe to touch?
Yes, the COOL-Pack glass is safe to touch. The patented dual-glass technology creates a passive air wash across the outer glass that reduces the surface temperature, making it safe to touch. This also eliminates the need for a safety screen, providing a clean and unobstructed view of the fire.
How close can wood framing, a mantel or a TV go?
The Prodigy II is a zero-clearance fireplace: 0" to combustibles at the top, rear, sides and floor, and combustible finishing materials — wood included — can be fastened straight to its face, as long as the screws stay above the glass mounting channels, go no deeper than 1/2" and stay out of the 3" zone above and below the glass. Stop the finish 1/8" from the glass edge. Mantels and hearths, combustible or not, can go above or below the glass at any depth, though a flush hearth right under the glass makes it harder to remove. Montigo sets no special clearance between a wall-mounted TV and the glass; follow the TV maker's own clearances.
Can it go on a covered patio?
Yes, in a protected outdoor space. It is an indoor fireplace, but it may be installed outdoors where it is protected from direct water: the covered overhang, on the front and the sides, must reach at least 75% of the height from the bottom of the fireplace opening to the ceiling — 84" of height needs a 63" overhang. The same clearances and finishing rules apply, the wiring follows outdoor electrical code, it is not used below freezing, and where it will be in contact with salt water, Montigo recommends an outdoor fireplace.
What gas and electrical connections does it need?
A 1/2" NPT gas line with a shutoff valve you can reach, installed and leak-tested before the wall is finished: natural gas at 5.5" WC minimum inlet pressure or propane at 11" WC. Electrically, a grounded 120 VAC, 15 A supply; the fireplace draws less than 12 A and powers the power vent through its own cable. It is rated to 4,500 ft; above that it is de-rated for altitude.
How long does it take to arrive, and can it be returned?
The Prodigy II is built to order. Montigo's estimated lead time is 6 to 8 weeks, and it arrives pre-assembled — no assembly needed. Because it is made to order, it cannot be returned once the order is placed, so confirm the length, glass height, fuel and power vent before you order.
Does buying online affect my Montigo warranty?
No — The Torch Guys is 1 of only 3 authorized Montigo e-commerce dealers in the United States, and we file claims on your behalf. The firebox, heat exchanger and main burner are covered for 15 years (1 year labor); controls, electrical parts, media, glass breakage, finishes and the power vent termination for 1 year. The warranty transfers with the home, starts on the installation date, and needs installation by a licensed professional and yearly service.
