About This Product

Napoleon Nexus 56" Rectangular Patioflame Fire Table

A 53,000 BTU/hr rectangular gas fire table, 56" long, 27" deep and 15.5" high, for a patio or deck. The Napoleon Nexus GPFRCN56 runs a stainless steel linear burner under a bed of lava rock, lights with a push-button electronic igniter, and has a thermocouple safety valve that shuts the gas off if the flame goes out. It ships for propane with the regulator and hose, stands on leveling feet, and is approved for use on combustible floors. from $2,329.

Choose it if you want a finished rectangular fire table for a sofa or a row of chairs on a patio or wood deck, running from a 20 lb propane cylinder, with the option of converting to natural gas later with Napoleon's kit.

It is not right for a screened-in porch, a gazebo or any other enclosed space, or for cooking. A propane cylinder never sits on top of the table, and a connected cylinder goes at least 60" away, so plan room for the tank and its hose; it also shuts down in winds over 10 mph, so an exposed site needs shelter or the windscreen.

Specifications

The table top is 56" long and 27" deep, 15.5" high overall, on a base 48" long and 19" deep with leveling feet; it is approved for use on combustible floors. Keep 24" to side walls and 72" from the top of the unit to any ceiling or overhead; the overhead clearance and maximum overhang are drawn on page 7 of the installation manual. Propane inlet pressure runs from 8" w.c. minimum to 13" w.c. maximum. It is listed to ANSI Z21.97-2017 / CSA 2.41-2017 for outdoor decorative gas appliances.

GPFRCN56 vs. the Nexus 72" and 36" Patioflame Fire Tables

The Nexus 72" (GPFRCN72) is the same 53,000 BTU/hr rectangular propane table, stretched to 72" x 27" at the same 15.5" height, for a long sectional or a bigger group. The Nexus 36" (GPFCCN36) is round, 36" across, for a small circle of chairs, with the same rating, ignition, lava rock bed and warranty. The 56" sits between them — from $2,329 vs from $2,999 and from $1,769.

Answers to common questions

Does it need a chimney or any venting?

No. It is an outdoor decorative gas appliance that burns in the open air, so there is no vent to run. What it needs instead is the right location: outdoors on a patio or in a yard, never inside a building, garage, screened-in porch or gazebo. Under an overhead cover it can have no more than two sidewalls, or three when at least 30% of the surrounding sides stay permanently open.

Where can I put it, and what clearances does it need?

Outdoors on a patio, deck or in a yard; it is approved for use on combustible floors. Keep 24" to side walls and 72" from the top of the unit to any ceiling or overhead. A sheltered spot is best, because direct wind makes the flame erratic and the burner shuts down in winds over 10 mph. Avoid places that get very wet or where water runs or collects.

What propane tank does it take, and where does it go?

It is designed for a 20 lb cylinder with a QCC1 valve; a 30 lb cylinder may be used but has to stand outside the table on level ground. Never set a cylinder on top of the table, and a connected cylinder goes at least 60" away, with the hose routed out of walkways. The regulator and hose come with the table. To run it from a house propane line instead, have a qualified gas installer make the connection.

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Rectangular fire table with base, access door, cylinder support and leveling feet; Stainless steel linear burner with control panel, control knob, push-button igniter and thermocouple safety valve; Lava rock media for the burner tray; Propane regulator and hose assembly; Assembly hardware.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Gas supply - a 20 lb propane cylinder with a QCC1 valve (a 30 lb cylinder may be used, placed outside the table on level ground), or a house propane line connected by a qualified gas installer; Battery - one AAA battery for the push-button igniter.
  • Optional: Natural gas conversion kit (S85005) to run it on natural gas, fitted by a licensed gas fitter, and the GPF56-WNDSCRN windscreen for breezy sites — the table ships for propane and runs without either.
Can it run on natural gas instead of propane?

Yes, with Napoleon's natural gas conversion kit (S85005), which is sold separately — the table ships set up for propane. The conversion has to be done by a licensed gas fitter.

Can I swap the lava rock for glass or stones?

No. The lava rock that ships with the table has to be in place to run it, and that material must not be changed or substituted — replacement rock comes from a Napoleon dealer, and real stones must never be used. On first use the rock is spread over the burner tray, kept clear of the ignition ports, and run on high for 30 minutes.

How does the warranty work if I buy it online?

Napoleon's President's 3 Year Limited Warranty covers the table top and pedestal, the stainless steel housing and the burner assembly for 3 years and all other parts for 2 years, with replacement parts supplied by Napoleon; labour is not covered. It applies to a home installation done by a licensed technician or contractor. The Torch Guys is an authorized Napoleon dealer, so the full factory warranty applies, and if you ever need a part we file the claim with Napoleon for you. Keep your invoice and the model and serial number.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
