A 50" electric fireplace you can build in three-sided, two-sided or front-only, because the side trims and panels for every layout come on it. The Napoleon Trivista Primis NEFB50H-3SV recesses fully into a framed wall with 0" clearance to combustibles and shows a 48-5/8" x 15" flame behind glass. It ships with a log set and two sizes of crystals, runs blue, orange and yellow flames over an ember bed and top light in 13 colours, and heats with up to 10,000 BTU/hr on 240 V or 5,000 BTU/hr on 120 V. It is hard-wired — no vent and no gas line. from $2,419.
Choose the Trivista Primis if you want a fire seen from the front and from one or both ends — a peninsula wall, a room divider or the end of a run of cabinets — and you are framing the wall anyway. Pick it if you can run a 240 V circuit and want the 10,000 BTU/hr heat setting, or a mantel close above the fireplace — 2-1/2" above the finishing trim; it is approved for bedrooms and manufactured homes.
It is not right if you want a fireplace you can plug in yourself: it has to be hard-wired by a qualified electrician to its own dedicated 15 A circuit, and it needs a framed enclosure built and finished around it. It is also indoor-only and wants 36" clear of furniture and curtains in front.
The fireplace measures 50" wide by 21-1/2" high by 9-1/2" deep and weighs 77 lb, with a 48-5/8" by 15" viewing area. Frame the enclosure 49" wide by 21-3/4" high by 9-1/4" deep — the same for a three-sided, two-sided or front-only install. Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the bottom, sides, back and top, and the minimum mantel height is 0" above the top of the appliance — at least 2-1/2" above the finishing edge trim. Power is 120 V (1,500 W) or 240 V (3,000 W), hard-wired to a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit.
No. The Trivista Primis is an electric fireplace and needs only power. It does not plug in: a qualified electrician hard-wires it to a dedicated, grounded 15 A circuit at 120 V or 240 V, with the wires brought to the top right of the enclosure. Extension cords are not allowed.
49" wide by 21-3/4" high by 9-1/4" deep, and the framing is the same whether you install it three-sided, two-sided or front-only. Clearance to combustibles is 0" at the bottom, sides, back and top. The fireplace is not load-bearing, so frame to carry the weight of your finish, and keep it off vapor barrier and exposed insulation.
Each end of the fireplace takes either a side trim, which leaves that end open to show the flame through its side glass, or a side panel, which closes it. Both ship with the fireplace. Open both ends for a three-sided view, one end for two-sided, or neither for a front-only fireplace. Decide before you install, because the trims and panels go on before it is set into the wall.
On 120 V it runs one heater, at 1,500 W, about 5,000 BTU/hr; wired for 240 V it runs both of its two heaters, at 3,000 W, about 10,000 BTU/hr. There are low and high heat settings and a thermostat you can set from 64°F to 82°F. The flames, ember bed and top light run with the heater off, and the heater can be locked out, so you can use it year-round.
Yes. The minimum mantel height is 0" above the top of the appliance, so the mantel sits at least 2-1/2" (64 mm) above the visible finishing edge trim — the reinforced framing behind the finish takes up that space. If you paint or lacquer the mantel, use a heat-resistant finish so it does not discolour.
Indoors only. It is approved for bedrooms and mobile homes and meets HUD standards for manufactured homes. Keep furniture, bedding and curtains 36" from the front, never cover its vents, and do not install it outdoors or where it is exposed to the elements.
