About This Product

Superior DRL6060 60" Linear Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

Sixty inches of linear flame over Platinum crushed glass, with two blowers, the floor lighting, the porcelain liner interior and the hand-held remote all standard. The Superior DRL6060 is a sealed direct-vent linear fireplace: 40,000 BTU/hr high / 28,000 low on natural gas at 55.1% P4 efficiency, venting vertically through the roof or horizontally through an outside wall on 6"/9" IHP 6DVL components. from $10,259, with a 20-year limited warranty on the body, firebox and barrier.

Choose the DRL6060 if you want the fully-loaded 60" linear — the blowers, floor lighting, liner and remote are already in the box, so the price shown is close to the finished spec and the only decisions left are the fuel, the media bed and the liner finish.

It is not right if there is no route to an outside wall or the roof, or no power at the wall. This is a sealed direct-vent firebox with electronic ignition: it must vent outside on 6"/9" pipe and it needs a 120 VAC supply. For a wall with neither, the Superior ERL3060 puts the same 60" linear format on an electric platform that needs only the outlet.

Specifications

Frame an opening 74-1/4" wide, with 84" minimum from the appliance base to the ceiling, and do not insulate the space between the fireplace and the area above it. Keep the back 1" from the wrapper and the sides 1" (0" to the spacers), and keep furniture and other combustibles 36" from the front of the viewing area. Combustible mantel clearance depends on how deep the mantel is — see Figure 40 on page 34 of the installation manual, and Figure 41 on the same page for combustible side walls. Listed by PFS TECO to ANSI Z21.88, report F18-195, and rated for standard orifices to 4,500 ft.

How the DRL6060 compares to the other DRL6000 sizes — and the see-through build

The four DRL6000 sizes share the Signature Series standard kit — blowers, floor lighting, porcelain liner and remote; they differ in width and output. This 60" runs 40,000 BTU/hr high on natural gas at from $10,259, against the 48" at from $7,179, the 72" at from $12,389 and the 84" at from $15,869. The same firebox is also sold as a two-room build — the see-through DRL6060 at from $13,404 bundles Superior's See-Thru kit into every variant, with the blowers removed or disabled per the manual; this page is the one-sided build that keeps them running.

Answers to common questions

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: 40,000 BTU/hr high / 28,000 low (natural gas); 40,000 / 30,000 (propane, conversion kit); Electronic intermittent pilot ignition (SIT Proflame II, IPI/CPI switchable); Battery backup — four AA batteries included; Ceramic glass; Platinum crushed glass media (three 5 lb bags), installed over the burner and media pan; Black porcelain interior liner; Two factory-installed variable-speed circulation blowers and halogen floor lighting; Proflame II full-function hand-held remote (batteries included); PFS TECO listed to ANSI Z21.88 (report F18-195); 20-year limited warranty.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Venting - IHP 6DVL 6"/9" direct-vent pipe (rigid or 6DVL flex) and a termination sized for your run; Gas Line and Electrical - a gas supply line and an unswitched 120 VAC, 60 Hz circuit, run by a qualified installer; this is electronic ignition only, so power is required at all times.
  • Optional: A colored or textured floor media upgrade — three bags of crushed glass in another color, a 25-piece rock kit, a driftwood-and-rock kit, or a driftwood log set — over the standard Platinum crushed glass; A Black Reflective Glass liner upgrade over the standard black porcelain interior; A See-Thru conversion kit, a black Linear Trim Kit, a HeatFlo heat-management kit and a Power Vent kit with its 6DVL adaptor — the fireplace operates fully without them.
Will it work if the power goes out?

Yes — every DRL6060 has battery backup built in. Four AA batteries in the Proflame II battery holder take over during a line-power interruption: the unit sparks at the pilot, lights, and operates normally. The blowers and the floor lighting are the exception — they stay off until line power returns. Superior recommends installing fresh batteries before each burn season so the switchover is automatic.

How do I vent it, and is the vent in the box?

The vent is sold separately, and the run is 6" inner / 9" outer pipe on IHP 6DVL components and terminations only — rigid sections, or IHP's own 6DVL flex where the run makes rigid impractical (rigid is still required through firestops). The flue collar is on top: run it vertically through the roof or elbow it horizontally through an outside wall, and for configurations natural draft cannot reach, the Power Vent kit (PVK-PF2-SV4.5) with the 6DVL-to-SV4.5 adaptor is the route. Send us your wall build-up and we will size the run with you.

Can I mount a TV above it?

Yes, with the manual's clearances — keep the TV at least 12" above the fireplace opening on a flush wall, or 18" above it in a recessed wall pocket, and note the recessed pocket itself is only available with the HeatFlo kit (maximum pocket depth 3-1/2"). The HeatFlo kit is the heat-management option here: it redirects the convective heat from above the glass to a register higher on the wall. Superior gives these TV clearances as guidance only, so check your TV maker's own temperature limits too.

Can it go in a bedroom or a manufactured home?

Yes to both — the DRL6060 is listed for installation in bedrooms, aftermarket mobile homes and manufactured homes (USA, where not prohibited by local codes; grounded to the chassis in a manufactured home). Wherever it goes, keep furniture and other combustibles at least 36" from the front of the viewing area, and give it 84" from the appliance base to the ceiling.

Do I have to buy the media or the liner upgrades?

No — the firebox is complete as it ships, with the Platinum glass media over the burner and the black porcelain liner fitted at the factory. The upgrades only change the look. On the media bed that means three bags of Reflective Black or Reflective Blue crushed glass, the 25-piece River Rock kit, the Driftwood Pieces and Rock kit, or the Driftwood Log Set; on the interior it means the five-panel Black Reflective Glass liner kit in place of the porcelain.

How does the warranty work if something goes wrong?

Superior warrants the DRL6060 — 20 years limited on the body, firebox and barrier, one year on the burner and gas components — and The Torch Guys handles it for you: we register the appliance and, if you ever need to claim, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number. Keep your invoice and the model number; we hold the rest on file.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
