A 45" traditional direct-vent gas fireplace with a 39-1/4" by 24-1/2" view of the fire. The Superior DRT3545 is sealed combustion — it takes its air from outside and vents straight back out, top or rear, so it can go on an outside wall without a chimney. Natural gas runs 35,000 BTU/hr high at 62.9% P4 efficiency; propane runs 30,000 BTU/hr high at 63%. The electronic intermittent pilot carries four-AA battery backup, so the fireplace keeps operating through a power outage. from $4,369.
Choose the DRT3545 if you want a traditional gas fireplace in a 45" opening and you would rather pick the front and the firebox interior yourself — the facade and the liner are separate choices on this page, not a fixed look.
It is not right if there is no route to an outside wall or roof. This is a sealed direct-vent firebox: it draws combustion air from outside and has to vent back out, top or rear. For an interior room with no venting path, a vent-free or an electric model is the one to look at instead.
Frame an opening 45-7/8" wide and 18-1/2" deep with the fireplace face flush to framing, allowing 43-3/4" of height for a top-vent run or 28-1/4" for a rear-vent one. Combustible mantel and side-wall clearances are read off drawings — see Figure 5B and Figure 5A on page 15 of the installation manual. It vents on 4.5"/7.5" Secure Vent rigid, Secure Flex or Z-Flex Model GA components; the SV4.5HT-2 horizontal termination fits every model in the series, and the small square SV4.5HTSS is approved for the 35" models only, not this 45". Listed by PFS to ANSI Z21.88, report F13-094.
The three DRT3500 sizes share the same firebox design, electronic ignition and facade range; they differ in width and output. This 45" runs 35,000 BTU/hr high on natural gas at from $4,369, against the 35" at from $3,399 and the 40" at from $3,729. Frame to the size you pick — the framing width steps five inches per size.
Yes — every DRT3545 uses electronic intermittent pilot ignition with battery backup, and four AA batteries keep the fireplace lighting and operating through an outage. The blower is the exception: it needs mains power and will not run until power returns.
Top or rear, on 4.5"/7.5" Secure Vent rigid pipe, Secure Flex, or Z-Flex Model GA — the three vent systems the manual approves. Allow 43-3/4" of framing height for a top-vent run and 28-1/4" for a rear-vent one. The SV4.5HT-2 horizontal termination suits every model in the series; the smaller square SV4.5HTSS is approved for the 35" models only, so it is not an option on this 45". Send us your wall build-up and we will size the run with you.
Combustible mantel clearance depends on how deep the mantel is — see Figure 5B on page 15 of the installation manual, and Figure 5A on the same page for combustible side walls. You can also send us your mantel depth. We're here to help!
Yes — the DRT3545 is listed for installation in bedrooms and in manufactured (mobile) homes, following the manual's Manufactured Home Requirements section, and it is approved at elevations up to 4,500 ft on the standard burner orifices. Local codes govern the installation either way.
Superior covers the DRT3545 with a 20-year limited warranty on the product body, firebox and barrier, and The Torch Guys handles it for you — we register the appliance and, if you ever need to claim, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number. Keep your invoice and the model number; we hold the rest on file.
