About This Product

Superior DRT6345 45" Traditional Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

A 45" traditional direct-vent gas fireplace rated 57,000 BTU/hr high and 40,000 low on natural gas — the largest input in the DRT6300 series. The Superior DRT6345 is sealed combustion on 8"/11" 8DV Lock pipe, venting from the top, with zero clearance to combustibles at the sides and back with the factory spacers installed. Ignition is an electronic intermittent pilot with six remote-adjustable flame levels, and four AA batteries keep it running through a power outage. from $7,609.

Choose the DRT6345 if you want the widest traditional hearth in the series — a 56-7/8" framed opening — and you would rather pick the interior yourself: the oak log set and the liner finish (porcelain black or two ceramic patterns) are chosen on this page, not fixed at the factory.

It is not right if you need it to heat the room, or if your only vent route is straight out the back wall. The manual lists the DRT6300 Series as a decorative fireplace that may not be installed as the primary heat source in a dwelling, and the firebox vents from the top only. For everyday heat, shop a heater-rated direct-vent model instead; for a rear-vent installation, a Superior direct-vent series that vents top or rear — like the DRT3000 — is the one to look at.

Specifications

Frame an opening 56-7/8" wide with a 50" rough-opening height, allowing 80-1/8" of framing height for a top-vent run with 2 feet of vertical vent and one 90-degree elbow; the unit itself is 28-3/8" deep. Vertical vent runs go 6 to 40 feet; horizontal terminations allow up to 20 feet of run on the manual's rise ladder. Keep a minimum 69" from the base of the appliance to the ceiling, and read combustible mantel clearance off Figure 8 on page 10 of the installation manual. A hearth extension is not required. Listed by PFS TECO to ANSI Z21.50:19, report F14-106.

How the DRT6345 compares within the DRT6300 series

There is also a dedicated power-vent DRT6345 for installs that cannot run conventional vertical or horizontal vent, at from $8,419. Both sizes share the log set, and the liner kits are size-specific.

Answers to common questions

  • Included in the box: 57,000 BTU/hr high / 40,000 low (natural gas); Electronic intermittent pilot ignition (SIT Proflame), remote modulated; Battery backup — four AA batteries; Total Comfort Control remote and wall receiver switch kit; Metal log grate; Glowing ember, platinum ember and volcanic stone media; Mesh safety-barrier screen (fitted before operation); ANSI Z21.50 certified (PFS TECO listed); 20-year limited warranty.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Log Set - the Oak Log Set; the metal grate ships in the box but the logs do not, and the manual does not allow operation without the log set floor installed; Interior Panels - the interior liner for the firebox; Porcelain Black, Ceramic Buff Herringbone and Ceramic Buff Rustic are the options, and the manual does not allow operation without liner panels installed; Venting - 8" / 11" 8DV Lock direct-vent components and a top-vent termination, sized to your run; Gas line and 120 VAC supply - run by a qualified installer; four AA batteries can run the ignition where power is out.
  • Optional: Andiron kits in Mission or Classic style, extra Volcanic Stone or Glowing Embers, and the touch-up paint kit — the fireplace operates fully without them.
Will it work if the power goes out?

Yes — every DRT6345 runs through an outage. The electronic ignition normally uses 120 VAC power, and four AA batteries can run the fireplace full-time or as a backup when the power is out.

How do I vent it?

From the top only, on Superior's 8" inner / 11" outer 8DV Lock rigid pipe — no other manufacturer's components are approved. Vertical runs go 6 to 40 feet (a vent restrictor, included in the firebox, is required on vertical runs of 6 to 12 feet or more), and horizontal terminations allow up to 20 feet of run with the vertical rise the manual's tables set. Send us your routing and we will size the run with you.

Can I put a shelf or mantel above it?

Yes, on every model — the manual calls these appliances uniquely suited for a utility shelf directly above the fireplace, the kind commonly used for locating television sets. Keep a combustible shelf at least 89-1/16" above the base of the appliance on a top-vent run, never insulate the space between the appliance and the area above it, and read combustible mantel height off Figure 8 on page 10 of the installation manual — send us your mantel depth and we will read it with you; a non-combustible mantel can sit at any height.

How does the warranty work if something goes wrong?

Superior covers the DRT6345 with a 20-year limited warranty on the body, firebox and barrier, with one year on the burner, gas components, gaskets and logs — and The Torch Guys handles it for you. We register the appliance and, if you ever need to claim, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number. Keep your invoice and the model number; we hold the rest on file.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
