About This Product

Superior ERL2045 45" Linear Electric Fireplace — Recessed or Wall-Mounted

A 45" linear electric fireplace, 4-5/8" deep, that recesses nearly flush into the wall or mounts on it — no vent, no gas line. The Superior ERL2045 runs a four-level yellow flame over a smoked crystal ember bed with multi-color lighting, and its thermostatically controlled heater is a 5,000 BTU/hr class — rated 5,461 BTU/hr at 120 V. Plug in the included grounded cord or hard-wire it to a dedicated 15 A circuit. from $1,259.

Choose the ERL2045 if you want the linear fireplace look in a wall with no venting path — a 48" wide, 5-1/8" deep framed recess is all it takes — and the room already has heat, so the supplemental warmth it adds is a comfort feature rather than the furnace.

It is not right if you need a primary heat source. The ERL2045 is a supplemental heater — a 5,000 BTU/hr class on a 120 V circuit — and IHP states it is not intended for continuous use as primary heat. If heating the room is the point, a direct-vent gas fireplace delivers several times that output; Superior's DRL2000 linear series keeps the same contemporary proportions.

Specifications

Recessed, it frames into a 16-1/2" high by 48" wide by 5-1/8" deep opening and finishes nearly flush — the front trim covers the drywall cut. Wall-mounted, keep 7-7/8" to side walls and the floor and 23-5/8" to the ceiling; recessed clearances are zero. Keep insulation and vapor barriers 2" off the appliance and furnishings 3 feet from the front. Power is 120 VAC at 13.33 A on a dedicated, fused 15 A circuit, plugged in or hard-wired.

How the ERL2045 compares to the ERL2055 — and the ERL3000 series

The ERL2055 is the same fireplace scaled to 55" — the same 18-3/8" height, 4-5/8" depth and heater ratings behind a wider glass — at from $1,549 against from $1,259 for this 45". A step up, the ERL3000 Pro series (60" to 100") adds a blue flame layer, an adjustable ceiling light and a driftwood log set over the crystals.

Features

  • 45" linear flame presentation in a chassis only 4-5/8" deep — recess it nearly flush or mount it on the wall
  • Smoked crystal ember bed under multi-color LED lighting — seven colors, auto rotation, or off
  • Thermostatically controlled 5,000 BTU/hr-class heater — 750 W low, 1,500 W high at 120 V
  • Plugs in on the included 120 V grounded cord, or hard-wires to a dedicated 15 A circuit
  • Remote and on-unit touch panel control flame brightness, ember color, heater, room temperature and a 30-minute to 8-hour timer
  • No vent, no gas line — tested to UL 2021 / CSA C22.2 No. 46 as a fixed electric room heater

Answers to common questions

Does it need a vent, a chimney or a gas line?

No. The ERL2045 is an electric fireplace — it needs only 120 V power. Plug the included grounded cord into a receptacle within reach, or have an electrician hard-wire it to the junction box on a dedicated 15 A circuit. There is no flue, no gas plumbing and no combustion air to plan for; it is listed to UL 2021 as a fixed electric room heater.

Can I recess it into the wall, or does it hang on the surface?

Both are approved. Recessed, it frames into a 16-1/2" x 48" x 5-1/8" opening and sits nearly flush, with the front trim covering the drywall gap. Wall-mounted, keep 7-7/8" to side walls and the floor and 23-5/8" to the ceiling. Either way, keep it 2" clear of insulation and vapor barriers.

How much heat does it put out?

It is a supplemental heater — a 5,000 BTU/hr class, rated 5,461 BTU/hr at 120 V, with 750 W low and 1,500 W high settings and a built-in thermostat that cycles the heater at your set temperature. IHP is explicit that it is not intended for continuous use as a primary heat source, and the flame and ember lighting run with the heater off.

Can it go in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is approved for indoor living spaces only — not bathrooms, laundry areas or anywhere it could contact water, and never outdoors or exposed to rain.

Superior's parent IHP warrants the fireplace — one year limited on the body, blower and circuit board, with 90-day coverage on glass, LED strips and accessories — and The Torch Guys handles it for you: we register the appliance and, if you ever need to claim, we deal with the manufacturer on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number. Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
