Whichever one you choose, you get a complete vent free set: the Boulder Mountain concrete logs — twelve pieces molded from real timber, including the fiber ramp log that glows — on the Superior Glow-Ramp burner that fits them, with the grate, hardware, volcanic stone and both ember materials in the carton. The 18" set rides the 18" burner at 28,000 BTU/hr (30,000 with electronic ignition); the 24" and 30" sets ride the 24" burner at 39,000 BTU/hr. Pick a millivolt standing pilot — with its switch, or with a wall switch, on/off remote or thermostatic remote — a variable-flame standing pilot with the ProFlame remote, or battery-powered EcoFlow electronic ignition with its touchscreen remote; nothing on this page plugs into a wall. from $1,328, with a 3-year warranty on the logs and grate.
Choose it if you want the three-zone fire — yellow rear flames, a glowing center log and a front ember bed — in an existing masonry or factory-built fireplace or a listed vent free firebox, and you want to size the logs to the opening: 26" of front width for the 18" set, 29" for the 24", 32" for the 30", all at 14.5" deep (17" high for the 18" and 24", 21" for the 30"). Millivolt if you want to add a wall switch or remote later; the variable or electronic burner if you want flame height on the remote from day one.
It is not right as a primary heat source — it is a supplemental room heater that adds moisture to the air, and the room must give it 50 cubic feet for every 1,000 BTU/hr of gas appliances in it. It cannot go in a bedroom or bathroom, in a recreational vehicle, in a factory-built fireplace whose instructions exclude unvented gas logs, or behind glass doors that will be closed while it burns. It is not the set for a fireplace that cannot give it 16" to a side wall, 42" to the ceiling and noncombustible facing above the opening — and these logs fit only the Glow-Ramp burner; installing them on any other burner is prohibited.
Specifications
The minimum firebox for the burner with its Boulder Mountain logs is 26" wide at the front, 20" at the rear, 17" high and 14.5" deep for the 18" set; 29" front, 22" rear, 17" high and 14.5" deep for the 24" set; and 32" front, 22" rear, 21" high and 14.5" deep for the 30" set. A side wall stays 16" from the side of the fireplace and the ceiling 42" above the opening; the wall directly above the opening carries noncombustible material at least 1/2" thick for a minimum of 8" — 12" of facing needs no hood and the GA6050 hood brings that down to 8" on the 24" and 30" sets — and combustible-mantel clearances are charted by mantel depth in Figures 6 and 7 on pages 11 and 12 of the burner installation manual. At floor level the fireplace keeps 14" to combustible flooring, or the burner sits 5" above it. Inlet pressure runs 5" to 10.5" W.C. on natural gas and 11" to 14" W.C. on propane through a 1/2" or larger line; each burner is built for one gas and cannot be converted.

Answers to common questions
Does it need a chimney, a vent or an outside air kit?
No. Every set on this page is an unvented room heater with an ODS safety pilot: it runs with the flue damper closed and puts all of its heat into the room, in a solid-fuel masonry fireplace, a UL127 factory-built fireplace or a listed vent free firebox. What it does need is air — 50 cubic feet of room volume for every 1,000 BTU/hr of gas appliances in the space, or added fresh air in a tightly built house. Massachusetts bars vent free appliances from bedrooms and bathrooms, and state or local codes in some areas prohibit them outright, so check yours before you buy.
What size fireplace opening do I need?
Measure the firebox the burner and logs will sit in. The 18" set on its 18" burner needs 26" of front width, 20" across the back, 17" of height and 14.5" of depth; the 24" set needs 29" at the front and 22" at the back at the same height and depth; the 30" set needs 32" at the front, 22" at the back, 21" of height and 14.5" of depth. The 24" and 30" sets share the 24" burner, so the choice between them is purely how wide a stack you want to fill the opening.
How close can a mantel or the ceiling be?
The ceiling must be at least 42" above the top of the fireplace opening, a side wall 16" from the side of the fireplace, and curtains or furniture 36" from the front. The wall directly above the opening needs noncombustible facing — slate, marble or tile at least 1/2" thick — for a minimum of 8"; 12" of facing needs no hood, and on the 24" and 30" sets the GA6050 hood brings that requirement down to 8". If the facing cannot reach 8" at all, this is not the right fireplace for the set. A combustible mantel's clearance depends on how deep it is: the burner manual charts it in Figure 6 on page 11 (no hood) and Figure 7 on page 12 (with the hood). Optional: GA6050 black fireplace hood — the part that lets you install with less clearance. On a 24" or 30" installation it is how a noncombustible facing of only 8" to 12" works where 12" is otherwise wanted, and it shortens every minimum mantel height (Figure 7 of the burner manual instead of Figure 6). Where your facing and mantel already clear, you do not need it; FM100 floor media kit (lava rock, embers and cinders) for more floor dressing, and the CIKA gas appliance installation kit — the set operates fully without either.
Will it work in a power outage?
Yes, whichever one you choose — nothing on this page uses house current. The millivolt and variable burners run on their own gas valve, with a push-button spark igniter (one alkaline battery, or a match) to light the standing pilot. The EcoFlow electronic burner runs its intermittent pilot and control module from a battery power supply on the fireplace floor, and its touchscreen remote from four AAA batteries. The manual itself says that in a power outage the heater may serve as your primary heat.
Which ignition should I pick, and what does each remote do?
All six choices light the same logs; they differ in the burner valve and the control you hold. The four Standing Pilot choices use the millivolt burner: 'Manual' is the burner with its own switch and HI-LO knob; 'On/Off Wall Switch' adds the GWMS2 wall switch; 'On/Off Remote' adds the RCKIT4001 remote and receiver; 'Thermostatic Remote' adds the TRC receiver and hand-held thermostat remote that holds a room temperature. 'Standing Pilot - Variable Flame Remote' is a different burner with a variable valve, and the ProFlame remote — manual and thermostat modes, five flame heights — ships with it. 'Electronic Ignition' is the EcoFlow burner: no standing pilot between fires, battery powered, with the touchscreen remote that gives manual, thermostat and weekday/weekend program modes, three flame heights and a child lock.
Can it go in a manufactured or mobile home?
Yes — the burner manual approves installation in an aftermarket, permanently located manufactured (mobile) home where local codes do not prohibit it, in a fireplace or firebox that meets the same opening and clearance rules as any other install.
Does buying from The Torch Guys affect my Superior warranty?
No. Innovative Hearth Products' Limited Three Year Warranty on Superior gas log sets requires the set to be bought through a listed IHP supplier with proof of purchase, and The Torch Guys is an authorized Superior dealer — we keep your invoice on file and deal with the manufacturer on your behalf if you ever need to claim. The logs and grate carry three years, the gas components and the remote one year from installation, other parts 90 days; the warranty stays with the original owner. Keep the model number from the burner's data plate.
