Nineteen-inch-tall Mossy Oak concrete logs on Superior's cantilevered triple burner — two rows of yellow flame over a stainless steel chassis and grate — in 24", 30" or 36" sets, each supplied with the Mega-Flame Outdoor burner it is built for: 40,000 BTU/hr on high, 29,000 on low, on natural gas or propane, from $2,077. It is built for an outdoor fireplace — certified as an outdoor decorative gas appliance to ANSI Z21.97, and marked for outdoor use only. It needs a firebox at least 32-1/2" wide at the front, 28" high and 15-1/2" deep for the 24" set, and the logs and grate carry Superior's three-year gas log set warranty.
Choose the Mossy Oak set if you are building an outdoor fireplace and want a fire that looks like a real wood one — 19" logs over a triple burner, on stainless steel that is built to stay outside. Measure the firebox first: a 36" box takes the 24" set, a 42" box the 30", and a 48" or larger box the 36", each at least 28" high. Then pick how it lights. The millivolt burner has a standing pilot you light by hand once a season and a HI-LO knob on the burner, and it is remote ready, so you can add an on/off wall switch or an on/off remote as a kit. The electronic-ignition burner sparks itself and comes with a hand-held remote that turns the fire on and off and swaps between high and low flame. Neither one needs household power.
It is not right if your firebox is narrower than 32-1/2" at the front, shorter than 28" or shallower than 15-1/2" — the 19" logs need the room. It is not an indoor set: it installs in an outdoor fireplace, and the spot has to stay open — walls all round with no overhead cover, an overhead cover with no more than two side walls, or an overhead cover with three side walls where at least 30% of the enclosure's horizontal periphery is permanently open. It is not for the sleeping room of a mobile home and not for a recreational vehicle. The logs install only on the burners Superior lists for them, never on another brand's burner, and the set is not a source of single replacement logs.
Specifications
Minimum firebox for each set is 32-1/2" wide at the front, 22-1/2" at the rear, 28" high and 15-1/2" deep for the 24"; 39" front and 26-3/8" rear at the same height and depth for the 30"; 47" and 33", 28" high and 20" deep for the 36". Superior sizes the 24" set to a 36" firebox, the 30" to a 42" and the 36" to a 48" or larger. The 24" and 30" sets ride the 24" burner and the 36" set the 30" burner, and every burner in the family is rated 40,000 BTU/hr high and 29,000 low on either gas. Keep 16" from the opening to a side wall and 42" to the ceiling, 36" of clear floor in front, and noncombustible facing at least 8" above the opening — the black hood is required if that facing is under 12". Mantel shelf clearances are charted in Figures 4 and 5 on page 7 of the installation manual and shorten when the hood is fitted.
Mossy Oak vs. Giant Timbers
Both Mega-Flame Outdoor styles are concrete log sets in 24", 30" and 36" on the same stainless burners, with the same burner choices and the same prices — Giant Timbers from $2,077 against Mossy Oak from $2,077 — so the choice is the look of the stack. Mossy Oak is the nine-log stack: it swaps the single front top log for two smaller top logs, left and right, which fill the front of the stack.

Included in the box: Mossy Oak concrete log set — the A and B cartons that together make one complete set of nine logs plus the small switch log; Mega-Flame Outdoor stainless burner — every configuration on this page includes one, in its millivolt or electronic-ignition form for your gas: the stainless burner and grate on the outdoor base with its gas control, volcanic stone, an approved flexible gas hose and fittings, the gas fitting elbow, the masonry-screw hardware package and its own installation manual. The electronic-ignition burner also brings its battery pack with the AA cells fitted and the hand-held Hi/Low flame remote with its battery.

Where does this go? Can I use it indoors?
It goes in an outdoor fireplace — a site-built wood-burning fireplace, a UL 127 wood-burning fireplace designed for outdoor use, or an unvented outdoor fireplace, which is why no flue or chimney is needed. It is an outdoor appliance: Superior certifies it as an outdoor decorative gas appliance to ANSI Z21.97 and the burner is marked for outdoor use only, so it does not go indoors or in an enclosed space. A covered spot counts as outdoors only while it stays open — walls all round with no overhead cover, an overhead cover with no more than two side walls, or an overhead cover with three side walls where at least 30% of the enclosure's horizontal periphery is permanently open. A propane supply tank is never placed inside any structure either.
What about volcanic stone and embers?
Volcanic stone comes in the box. It goes around the base of the burner on the fireplace floor to look like an ash bed, and it must never sit on the burner itself — nor must loose log scraps. Glowing embers are not part of an outdoor burner.
Millivolt or electronic ignition — which should I pick?
The millivolt burner has a standing pilot you light by hand: turn the control knob to PILOT, press the igniter button, hold the knob in for thirty seconds. After that you run it from the HI-LO knob and an AUTO/OFF/ON switch hidden in the small switch log. It runs on the pilot's own thermopile, so it needs no power at all, and it is remote ready — the On/Off Wall Switch and On/Off Remote choices are that same burner with the switch kit or the remote kit added and wired to the valve at installation. The electronic-ignition burner is a different part number with a different valve: a control module sparks the burner itself and it comes with a hand-held remote that turns the fire on and off and switches the flame between high and low. It runs on batteries — four AA in the burner's pack and one in the remote, both supplied — and must never be wired to household power.
Can I put the Mossy Oak logs on a burner I already own?
Only if it is one Superior lists for them. The placement instructions name the Mega-Flame Outdoor burners sold here, several other Superior burners, and the Magniflame, MF42/MF48, MFBOD, VFGT and VTDGT families, and they state that installing the logs on any other burner is strictly prohibited. The set is also complete only as a set — it is not a source of single replacement logs, and the logs must never be altered. Who installs it, and what should I know about living with it?
A qualified installer, service agency or the gas supplier installs and services the set, with the fireplace off and cold; the base is screwed to the fireplace floor so it cannot shift when you work the controls, and the fireplace screen goes back in place before it is run, with any glass doors fully open. The logs must be set exactly as the instructions show — when they are, no flame touches a log. They stay hot after use, so any repositioning waits for them to cool or is done in heat-resistant gloves. Expect a slight smell the first time you run it, clean the burner air inlets every three months in season, have it inspected yearly, and note that above 4,500 feet the pilot may not stay lit.
Does buying from The Torch Guys affect my Superior warranty?
No. The Torch Guys is an authorized Superior dealer, and Superior's Gas Log Set Limited Three Year Warranty covers product bought through a listed supplier: three years on the logs and grate, one year on gas components and the remote control, 90 days on other parts, with labour at the manufacturer's rates for the component's period. It stays with the original owner at the original installation. Keep your invoice and the model and serial numbers from the burner's data plate, and we handle the claim with the manufacturer for you.
