The Napoleon Elevation X 42" is a clean-face direct vent gas fireplace with a deep, full-view firebox: 45,000 BTU/hr on natural gas or 39,000 on propane, a modulating electric ember bed, high-definition log kits in Split Oak, Driftwood or Birch, and two blowers, the Night Light, a ProFlame 2 remote and eFIRE Bluetooth phone control all included — from $5,549 before the interior panels and log set you choose above. It vents through a 5" / 8" pipe off the top, frames into a 45-3/4" wide, 22-1/4" deep opening, and carries Napoleon's President's Lifetime Limited Warranty.
Choose the 42" if you want a traditional log fire you can dress your way — eight interior panels, from reflective black porcelain and black glass to Glacier and Westminster brick and antique ledgestone, and three log styles — run from a remote or your phone. It is approved for bedrooms and bathrooms and certified for mobile homes, and because it shares its rough framing with the Elevation electric fireplace, you can frame the wall now and settle on gas later.
It is not right for you if you want a long, low linear flame. The Elevation X is a traditional log fire with eight interior panels to choose from, from black glass to antique ledgestone.
The framed opening is 45-3/4" wide, 48-1/4" high and 22-1/4" deep, and the enclosure needs at least 72" of height (84" for a recessed installation, which can sit up to 5-1/2" deep). The face is finished in non-combustible material, which may stand out up to 4" from the door, and the finishing flange adjusts up to 1" for the thickness of the finish. No hearth is required; raise the fireplace flush with the finished floor if you add a trim. Mantel clearances depend on the mantel's depth and are charted on page 44 of the installation manual. The vent pipe needs 3" above and 2" at the sides of horizontal runs and 1" around vertical runs, and the fireplace takes a 1/2" gas line and a hard-wired 115 V supply.
Both Elevation X sizes share the clean-face firebox, the electric ember bed, the log kits and eight panel styles, the two included blowers, the eFIRE controller and Night Light, and the 5" / 8" top vent. The 42" is rated 45,000 BTU/hr on natural gas and frames into a 45-3/4" wide opening, from $5,549; the 36" is rated 37,000 BTU/hr and frames into a 39-3/4" opening, from $4,929.
It is a direct vent fireplace on a 5" exhaust / 8" air-intake pipe off the top of the unit, run out through a wall or up through the roof: up to 20 ft horizontally and up to 40 ft vertically. Use one brand of pipe throughout — Napoleon (Wolf Steel), Metal-Fab, BDM, Simpson Dura-Vent or Selkirk Direct Temp — and do not mix rigid and flexible pipe. A wall termination uses Napoleon's round GD422R-2 terminal or the Silhouette terminal kit; roof kits cover pitched and flat roofs. The vent run and termination are ordered separately and sized to your installation, and the outside terminal clearances are listed on page 16 of the installation manual. It is also certified for a power vent kit.
Yes, with planning. Napoleon draws the minimum TV clearances above the Elevation X — flush with a mantel, recessed, and recessed with a protrusion; a flush installation without a mantel is crossed out — on page 43 of the installation manual, and the mantel clearances on page 44. Adding the optional Dynamic Heat Control system moves heat away from the fireplace, lowers the wall temperature above it and reduces the mantel clearances, which is what it is designed for when a TV sits directly above; it goes in while the fireplace is framed, before the venting and gas. Always stay within your TV maker's own temperature limits.
Indoors, including bedrooms, bathrooms and bed-sitting rooms, and it is certified for mobile and manufactured homes where local codes allow (fastened in place). It is rated to 4,500 ft, with the input reduced above that. Keep furniture and other objects at least 48" from the front, and do not run it below freezing.
A 1/2" natural gas or propane line to the fireplace's flex connector and shut-off valve, installed and tested before the wall is finished — natural gas at 4.5" to 7" w.c. inlet pressure, propane at 11" to 13" w.c. Electrically it is hard-wired to a grounded 115 V, 60 Hz supply; with batteries in the receiver the flame still works during a power failure, though the blowers and Night Light do not. It can be converted between natural gas and propane with Napoleon's certified conversion kit.
No. The Torch Guys is an authorized Napoleon dealer, so the President's Lifetime Limited Warranty applies in full, and we file claims with Napoleon for you. The firebox, burner, PHAZER logs and embers and the ceramic glass (against heat breakage) are covered for as long as you own the fireplace — parts free for the first 10 years, then at half of retail; blowers, valves, remotes and other electrical parts and the labour are covered for the first year. Coverage starts on the installation date.
