Napoleon Tall Vector 62" See-Through Luminous Logs Gas Fireplace
The Napoleon Tall Vector 62" See-Through with Luminous Logs is a tall linear direct vent gas fireplace whose flames rise straight out of the logs over a modulating LED ember bed, through a 64-9/16" by 26-13/16" view that shows the fire from both sides. It is rated 44,000 BTU/hr on natural gas, or 38,000 on propane with Napoleon's conversion kit, and comes with MIRRO-FLAME porcelain panels, dimmable top accent lights, a black premium safety barrier, a ProFlame II remote and the eFIRE phone app included - from $17,249 before the Luminous log kit you choose above. It vents through a 5" / 8" pipe off the top, frames 77-13/16" wide in an enclosure at least 91" tall, and carries Napoleon's President's Lifetime Limited Warranty.
Choose it if you want a tall, two-sided linear fire with log flames that look like the real thing - Luminous Driftwood, Oak or Birch, each with a woodland kit of rocks, glowing embers and charcoal - and the option to switch the log flames off from the remote and leave the ember bed and top lights glowing. It is approved for bedrooms and bathrooms and certified for mobile homes.
It is not right if you need a heater: Napoleon certifies it as a decorative appliance, not a source of heat. It also needs a Luminous log kit before it can run, a 5" / 8" direct vent run, a hard-wired 110 V supply, non-combustible facing around the opening and a framed enclosure at least 91" tall - and without Napoleon's optional Dynamic Heat Control, planned in before the wall is finished, the wall above it is not suited to a TV.
Specifications
The framed opening is 77-13/16" wide, 48-3/16" high and 16-3/16" deep, in an enclosure at least 91" tall from the base of the fireplace (taller for some vent runs and for a recessed installation); the fireplace itself is 77-5/16" wide, 47-15/16" high and 16-3/16" deep. The enclosure's inside walls are finished like an outside wall. The wall 15-5/8" above and 7" either side of the opening is finished in non-combustible material such as brick, tile or non-combustible board - the layout is on pages 53 to 55 of the installation manual, and mantel heights and depths are charted on page 56. No hearth is required. Keep furniture at least 48" from the front.

Answers to common questions
What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
-
Included in the box: Black premium safety barrier screen in front of the ceramic glass; MIRRO-FLAME porcelain reflective end and rear panels; Adjustable finishing trim (finishing flange) around the opening; ProFlame II remote control and eFIRE phone-app controller; Modulating LED ember bed and dimmable top accent lights; Electronic pilot-on-demand ignition with a 4 AA battery-backup wall switch; Stainless steel gas flex connector with shut-off valve, wall firestop, nailing tabs, vent restrictor and media tray.
-
Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Log Set - a Luminous Driftwood, Oak or Birch log kit with its woodland media; the flames rise from the logs, and the fireplace ships without them; Venting - 5" / 8" direct vent pipe and a wall or roof termination sized for your run; rigid pipe or a power vent on propane (see pg 14 in the installation manual); ⚠ Propane installs require rigid vent pipe (if opting for flex pipe, a power vent is required); Enclosure - a framed enclosure at least 91" tall, its inside walls finished like an outside wall (see pg 27 in the installation manual); Non-Combustible Facing - brick, tile, stone or non-combustible board 15-5/8" above and 7" either side of the opening (see pg 53 in the installation manual); framing requirements differ with a heat management system; Electrical - a grounded 110 V supply, hard-wired to the fireplace; Gas Line - a 1/2" gas supply to the fireplace's shut-off valve.
-
Optional: A vertical or external wall venting package, heat management (Dynamic Heat Control, Dynamic Heat Control Plus, Ducted Heat Management or the Hot Air Distribution Kit), a power vent adaptor kit, a 5/8" finishing trim, a Dynamic Linear Trim for the air outlet and the Wall Mount Control - the fireplace operates fully without any of them.
What venting does the Tall Vector 62" See-Through need?
It is a direct vent fireplace on a 5" / 8" pipe off the top of the unit, run out through a wall or up through the roof, up to 40 ft vertically. Use one brand throughout - Napoleon, Metal-Fab, BDM, Simpson Dura-Vent or Selkirk Direct Temp - and do not mix rigid and flexible pipe. On propane use rigid vent pipe; flexible pipe on propane needs a power vent. Napoleon's 5" / 8" wall terminals are the GD422R-2 round terminal and the ST58U-1 Silhouette, with roof kits for pitched and flat roofs. The allowed rises, horizontal runs and elbows are graphed on pages 19 to 26 of the installation manual, and longer runs use Napoleon's PVALX5 power vent adaptor. The vent run is ordered separately and sized to your installation.
Can I mount a TV above it?
Plan on Napoleon's optional Dynamic Heat Control if you want one (DHCL2, two kits for the see-through). It is a heat management system that moves heat away from the fireplace opening and makes room for a TV, sound bar or artwork above, and it goes in with the fireplace - it is not practical to add once the wall is finished. Without it, the wall above the fireplace gets hot and is not suited to a TV; a mantel between them reduces the heat; for TV positions above a mantel, see page 57 of the installation manual. Either way, stay within your TV maker's own temperature limits.
Where can it be installed?
Indoors, including bedrooms, bathrooms and bed-sitting rooms, and it is certified for mobile and manufactured homes where local codes allow (secured in place). It is rated to 4,500 ft, with the input reduced above that. Keep furniture and other objects at least 48" from the front, and do not run it below freezing.
What gas and electrical connections does it need?
A 1/2" natural gas or propane line to the fireplace's flex connector and shut-off valve, connected and tested before the wall is finished - natural gas at 4.5" to 7" w.c. inlet pressure, propane at 11" to 13" w.c. It is hard-wired to a grounded 110 V supply. It ships for natural gas and converts to propane with Napoleon's kit W175-0864, fitted by a qualified installer.
Will it work in a power outage?
Yes, for the fire itself: with 4 AA batteries in the wall switch, the pilot and burner still turn on and off. The ember bed and top lights do not run without power, and a fireplace installed with a gas power vent waits for the power to come back.
Does buying online affect my Napoleon warranty?
No. The Torch Guys is an authorized Napoleon dealer, so the President's Lifetime Limited Warranty applies in full, and we file claims with Napoleon for you. The combustion chamber, burner, logs, embers, rocks, ceramic glass and porcelain parts are covered for as long as you own the fireplace - parts free for the first 10 years, then at half of retail; valves, remotes and other electrical parts and the labour are covered for the first year. Coverage starts on the installation date.
