About This Product

Napoleon Vector 50" See-Through Linear Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Napoleon Vector 50" See-Through is a see-through linear direct vent gas fireplace with MIRRO-FLAME porcelain reflective panels, multi-colour LED ember lights, Night Light top lights, a ProFlame II remote and the eFIRE phone app included. It is rated 36,000 BTU/hr on natural gas, or 31,500 on propane with Napoleon's conversion kit, through a 52-3/4" by 18-5/8" view behind 5 mm ceramic glass and a black safety barrier screen, and the fire shows from both rooms — from $7,439 before the logs, glass or media you choose above. It vents through a 5" / 8" pipe off the top, frames 65-13/16" wide, and carries Napoleon's President's Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Choose it if you want a long, clean linear fire dressed your way — Standard Beach Fire or Birch logs, High Definition Birch, Driftwood or Oak, glass beads or glass embers in eleven colours, wrought iron globes, a Woodland kit or mineral rocks — with a remote and the eFIRE app to set the flame and the ember-bed colour, seen from two rooms at once. It is approved for bedrooms and bathrooms, so it suits a smaller room as well as a living room.

It is not right if you need a heater: Napoleon certifies the Vector as a decorative appliance, not a source of heat. It also needs logs, glass or a media kit before it can run, a 5" / 8" direct vent run, a hard-wired 110 V supply and a finished enclosure at least 73" tall, so it is a framed-in installation planned before the wall is finished, not a drop-in for an existing fireplace.

Specifications

The framed opening is 65-13/16" wide and 16-3/16" deep, in an enclosure at least 73" tall from the base of the fireplace; the fireplace itself is 65-5/16" wide (69-5/16" across its flanges), 41-3/16" high and 16-3/16" deep. The face is finished in non-combustible material for 15-5/8" above the opening and 7" to either side, and finish next to the safety barrier (above the door and at the sides) may stand out no more than 4" unless the clearance to the sides and top grows 2" for every extra 1". Mantel heights by mantel depth are charted on page 56 of the installation manual. No hearth is required. Keep furniture at least 48" from the front.

How the Vector 50" See-Through compares

The Vector 50" single-sided is the same size and rating with the fire on one side only, framing 20-1/8" deep, priced from $5,729; this model is from $7,439. In the other widths (see-through), the 38" from $6,179, the 62" from $10,889, the 74" from $13,189: across the line the 38" is rated 30,000 BTU/hr with a 40-3/4" view, the 50" 36,000 with 52-3/4", the 62" 42,000 with 64-3/4" and the 74" 48,000 with 76-3/4", all 18-5/8" tall.

Answers to common questions

What’s included, what’s required, and what’s optional?
  • Included in the box: Black safety barrier screen in front of the glass; 5 mm ceramic glass door; MIRRO-FLAME porcelain reflective end and rear panels; ProFlame II remote control and eFIRE phone-app controller; Multi-colour LED ember bed lights and Night Light top lights; Electronic pilot-on-demand ignition with a 4 AA battery-backup wall switch; Stainless steel gas flex connector with shut-off valve, wall firestop, vent shield and nailing tabs.
  • Required to complete the installation, purchased separately: Log Set or Burning Display - logs, glass or a media kit for the burner; at least one is needed, and glass or media can be added to a log set; Venting - 5" / 8" direct vent pipe and a wall or roof termination sized for your run (see pg 14 in the installation manual); Enclosure - a framed, finished enclosure at least 73" tall from the base of the fireplace (see pg 28 in the installation manual); Non-Combustible Finish - brick, stone, tile or non-combustible board for 15-5/8" above and 7" either side of the opening; Electrical - a grounded 110 V supply, hard-wired to the fireplace; Gas Line - a 1/2" gas supply to the fireplace's shut-off valve.
  • Optional: A vertical or external wall venting package, heat management (Dynamic Heat Control, Dynamic Heat Control Plus, Ducted Heat Management or the Hot Air Distribution Kit), a power vent adaptor kit, the Wall Mount Control, the End Panel Kit and a cement board kit — the fireplace operates fully without any of them.
What venting does the Vector 50" See-Through need?

It is a direct vent fireplace on a 5" / 8" pipe off the top of the unit. On natural gas it runs out through a wall or up through the roof, up to 20 ft horizontally and up to 40 ft vertically; on propane the horizontal run is shorter, up to 4-3/8 ft, and longer runs need a power vent. Use one brand throughout — Napoleon, Metal-Fab, BDM, Simpson Dura-Vent or Selkirk Direct Temp — and do not mix rigid and flexible pipe. Napoleon's 5" / 8" wall terminals are the GD422R-2 round terminal and the ST58U-1 Silhouette, with roof kits for pitched and flat roofs and GD420 / GD430 flexible vent kits. The vent run and termination are ordered separately and sized to your installation (see pg 14 in the installation manual).

Can I mount a TV above it?

Yes, with planning — add Napoleon's optional Dynamic Heat Control. It moves the heat away from the wall above the fireplace without a fan, so a TV, sound bar or artwork can go there, and it is installed with the fireplace rather than added after the wall is finished. Without it the wall above gets hot; the minimum TV clearances with a mantel are drawn on page 57 of the installation manual. Either way, stay within your TV maker's own temperature limits.

Where can it be installed?

Indoors, including bedrooms, bathrooms and bed-sitting rooms, and it is certified for mobile and manufactured homes where local codes allow (secured in place). As a see-through it can sit in the wall between two rooms, serviced from one side. It is rated to 4,500 ft, with the input reduced above that. Keep furniture and other objects at least 48" from the front, and do not run it below freezing.

What gas and electrical connections does it need?

A 1/2" natural gas or propane line to the fireplace's flex connector and shut-off valve, connected and tested before the wall is finished — natural gas at 4.5" to 7" w.c. inlet pressure, propane at 11" to 13" w.c. It is hard-wired to a grounded 110 V supply, and the 4 AA battery wall switch keeps the fire turning on and off in a power outage. It ships for natural gas and converts to propane with Napoleon's kit W175-0644, fitted by a qualified installer.

Does buying online affect my Napoleon warranty?

No. The Torch Guys is an authorized Napoleon dealer, so the President's Lifetime Limited Warranty applies in full, and we file claims with Napoleon for you. The combustion chamber, burner, logs, embers, rocks, ceramic glass and porcelain parts are covered for as long as you own the fireplace — parts free for the first 10 years, then at half of retail; valves, remotes and other electrical parts and the labour are covered for the first year. Coverage starts on the installation date.

Warranty

In the unlikely event your product experiences a defect, our technical team will guide you through the manufacturer’s warranty process. Here is a general outline of what to expect.

Due to the technical nature of our products, the manufacturer must perform troubleshooting to process a warranty claim. Your installer will need to troubleshoot the problem on-site while working in tandem with our technical team. If troubleshooting leads to what The Torch Guys deems as a defective part, we will submit a warranty claim to the manufacturer on your behalf. Before we submit the claim, we will ask you to review the terms and confirm your consent to proceed.

Once the claim is submitted, the manufacturer will review it and either approve or deny it. If they have all the information and accept the claim, your warranty replacement part(s) will begin processing for shipment. If, for any reason, the claim is denied or we need more information, we will notify you as soon as possible.

All warranties are processed as exchanges. You can expect to receive a prepaid return label for the defective part(s), which must be returned within 30 days of receiving the warranty replacement(s).

Warranty claims can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to process, depending on the season. Given the length of time claims can take, we recommend you fire up your unit in late summer/early fall to ensure your existing fireplace is in good working order for the winter season.
